Luke Brown was a lock in most teams including mine. But hasnt played at all in nab! Would I be better off getting Brad Harvey from the lions for that mid/def mpp link?

MC

Mid/def is a waste of time this year - pick the best rookies regardless of dpp links

ok and why's that buddy?

MC

Because if you waste a bench spot on a mid/def rookie who doesn't play often, then you've wasted the opportunity to bring in a cash cow to upgrade to a premium.

Can't see that many mid/def rookies who are certain starters, yet there are plenty of other rookies on the radar who are almost guranteed to play and increase in value!

Your call, but i'm staying away from them this year. If you go for Brown - he'll be sitting on your def bench anyway, you definitely wouldn't have him in front of mid guns like Shiel, Magner, Clifton, Neale (depending on injury) etc..

Jay

Yeah that does make sense! What about mid/fwd rookies? D.smith, pfeiffer, kerridge are all good picks yeah? Ive got smith and daz at this point. Might trade brown-->shiel...

MC

Mid/fwd makes more sense, but i'd still forsake the dpp rookie link for the best rookies if they didn't happen to be dpp players. Personally I only made use of Petrie as a dpp last year from memory.

If you choose rookies who are going to get games, then you shouldn't have much need for dpp rookies unless they're to cover byes.

The dpp link won't come into affect until round 11 and by then you should have upgraded the bulk of your rookies you've started with, And as MC said above start with the best rookies, It's from say round 8 that you need to keep a watch on new dpp rookies to trade in ;-)

I would still prefer a Mid/Forward DPP Link.  It helps if you are going the three mids/rokkie strategy if one of your prems has a suspension or short term injury.

Plenty starting round 1 ;-), depends if mixing and matching between those 2 positions or having them all in mids or fwds
