OK guys, I've taken the advice from the likes of Windigo and many others on FF to make a few changes to my team. I have decided to go with the 1 prem. ruck and 3 rook strategy ( I'll find out during the season whether this was the best course of action) as this gave me the chance to upgrade my back line which was weak. Still struggling with the byes but I suppose I have to deal with that when the time comes.

Def: Goddard, Carrazzo, Shaw,Deledio, Hargrave, Ellis, Darley (Bugg, Brown)

Mid: Swan, Ablett, Boyd, Thompson,Hogan, Magner (Clifton, Neale)

Ruck: Sandi, Giles (Redden, Stephenson)

Fwd: Franklin, Martin, Robinson, Fyfe, Sidebottom, Smith, Pfeiffer (Hall, Zorko)

I know Zorko might not be ready to go for round one and will monitor. I've got $33.600 left in the bank. Give me your honest thoughts on the team (good or bad).
Cheers,
Dutchie :)

yer good but if u r going to win the league u have to improve ur mid they are the main surce of points

Any way you can see how I can improve my midfield without compromising anywhere else? And when you say improving....a fifth midfielder obviously but how with only $33.600 in the bank? Appreciate your feedback.

pretty good side Dutch think ya mids are fine 4 prem 2 rooks ,only thing would be only one prem ruck but most sides will be that way .

Thanks guys, my only problem is being without 7 premiums in round 13....gotta deal with that at some stage. Any other suggestion you may have to improve?

I dont see how you could actually improve that midfield without losing too much. luke thompson? :o
yeh good team, very similar structure to my side.

Backs: I'd let Carrazo go. He occasionally gets the tagging job, look at Birchall, Heppell or Broughts instead. Hargrave should do well, good rooks. 8.5/10

Mids: All very good, except for Scotty T. Yes, he has a brilliant draw, but he isn't quite as proven as someone like Selwood and above, they are just a class above. 8.5/10

Rucks: Obviously weakened. Sandi might not (well, probably won't) play all games. There are better choices. Your rooks are good, but they must play during your bye rounds, otherwise you're screwed. 6/10

Fwds: Very strong, maybe too strong... if you need to strengthen any other lines (maybe rucks), I'd drop either Robbo or Fyfe to a rookie. 9/10

Overall: 8/10. In my scoring, an 8 is a team set for round 1. Of course, you can still make improvements... :)

Thanks Stew42 (and others), yet again a very good assessment. I will do some further tinkering and re-post my team at some stage again for comments. All of your help has been appreciated.

Backs look good, I think there might be better cows in midfield than hogan and clifton. Robinson and zorko haven't played preseason yet so I'd be wary of having them both.

He had an avg of 108.86 to selwoods 109.29, yeah selwood scored about 16 when he knocked himself out but scotty is a proven gun on an avg team. He won me a few finals as a pod player last year with some big scores at the end there.

That's very nice, but with the improvement of VB and Sloane, I think the ball might be shared around a bit. There is a huge danger if a team only has one gun in it's midfield, like Adelaide did for most of last year.

Besides, if you could go Selwood, then it's no contest really :)
