Hargrave has never played in the backline when Murphy is down there as the number 1 rebounding defender, so don't expect him to get the majority of the points, just because he dominated Nab cup matches against players who have never played AFL.

If Howard plays (he should) Hargrave will be 3rd in line to bring it out of the back. Gilbee is injured but will be back in 3-4 weeks. Hargrave slips down to 4th best rebounding option if Gilbee can reclaim his spot. IF.

Hargrave has always been a good kick though, so he'll still have some good games. An average of 75-80 seems about right.

Lake won't be AA quality this year, but he won't have another year from hell either. 80 average for him seems about right too. Both are okay options for their price, but...

My advice would be to spend the extra 30K and get Suban. He'll return to the way he was scoring before he broke his leg last year. It wasn't a bad break like Barlow, so he'll be fine. Earmarked as the number 1 rebounding defender at Freo, a team who will push for top 4 IMO. Should average 90ish.

Suban appeals to me like a Sloane of the backline.  Young unproven gun and isn't too pricey.

The only problem I have with him is we haven't seen any promising pre-season form.  Probably the only reason Hargrave is in atm for me.

suban???????
are you guys serious, lol put him in put him in. he never even average over 60.7 in a season so far. cant see him scoring anywhere near 90's.
good insight on doggies there meow meow, almost forgot about murphy, it all depends on who the new coach favours there i guess

Plenty of other options there too. There is a young bloke from Adelaide that will benefit from avoiding the vest, and natural improvement of a 2nd year player. He'll be a gun.

Mcphee and duffield have been alternating in the rebound role.  Have to see whether it ends up being Suban.

i really don't see why people are hyping Hargrave up. I'm a doggies supporter and I see Lake as a more profitable option. Hargrave will have a good year this year, no doubt. He is an integral part of the dogs backline. But fact is, with Williams going down injured this week, it means that Hargrave will have to play a more lock down role. This will inhibit his scoring. 2009 was a once off year due to Eade changing the game plan and having that ''keepings off'' mentality in the backline. That resulted in Hargrave gathering some huge numbers where he was largely loose man in defence

Hargrave not in Bulldogs squad for this weekend's NAB cup game. Definitely not going to make it any easier when deciding between Lake and Hargrave..

Hopefully Lake dominates and makes the decision a no-brainer.

I think it makes it easier. This is the last dogs game right? hargrave certainly hasn't performed badly- if the dogs aren't fielding him its because they believe he's shown enough to be in their starting squad, and at his age there's no use risking him in NAB given his injury history in 2010 and 11
