Guthrie is a muppet. He will not get many games this year and if he does he will not score well. Avoid at all costs. And Clarke will also not get many games. there was too much hype about him but he will struggle to make the best 22. He won't even score well.

Interesting call. How many full games have you watched in which Guthrie has played?

Also, Clarke may not be doing much at the moment, but consider this: it's only preseason & he's had a soft tissue injury so they're easing him into the action - only played a half at the weekend. Admittedly wasn't very impressive, but I'll be waiting until the END of the preseason - not half-way through - before making a judgement call on an experienced, mature-bodied player (not old though) who plays for one of the top sides (if not the best side) in the league. They brought him all the way back from Ireland (& had been keen to ever since he left) & there is every chance he could play a sweeping half-back role, allowing him to score fairly well, picking up easy touches across that HB line.

Overall, jury still out for me on Clarke. As for Guthrie, I think labelling him a muppet is extremely harsh - I have seen him play VFL live and he is very impressive. He is also coming through a high quality system at Geelong. I believe he turn into a quality AFL player. That being said, I am not sure that will see him play enough games this year to see him picked in my team.

who are other options besides these two??

waiting to see who is in the team round one. Ill go Clarke if its both and if its none then a rookie will have to do

Ellis, Morris (rich), mohr, bugg (gws), cripps (stk), plenty of options ;-)

Think you might be taking the piss to put us off them... can't see any other reason why you'd say the above. In any case I don't agree with you in the slightest and I hope you enjoy being on the ground coz you'll miss the boat if you don't pick at least one of these two.

Good luck doing well with one or two of them in your team. Waste of a trade and you will be trading them out when they SUCK!
