Hargrave by a looooooooooooooong way. Has proven himself in the past (93 avg in '09) and has blitzed both NAB cup rounds this year. LOCK HIM IN FOR SURE.

Good choices there, Duffman, Hargrave, Conca. Take your pick.

if you are gonna take those risks somewhere then the backline is the place.
atm i've got waters (eased thru the nab, is fit and always performs straight away after a long lay off),
haregrave (who doesnt have him and who didn't love watching turn back the clock against carlton thowing his body around for marks plus gettng the junk) and duffman (1 poor season mainly due to confidence which seems to be back)

maybe 1 of them won't work out but it allows me to crank up on my other lines and you gotta take some risks to win this thing.

Jordan Russell.

He backed up his very good 2010 with a stinker last year.

Priced at $350k with a BE of 70.

Has had a full preseason and has been talked up a bit by the coaching staff for his efforts.

With Laidler out for a couple of rounds, his JS should be good.

Just throwing another option out there.   ;D

His 2010 season was pretty good (80DT average) A hand full of good 100+ games, but also a handful of very low scoring games depending if he was playing loose or a lock down role. The problem with Russell is his 2012 price tag which is a bit awkward considering that fact that not even Russell knows what role he will play this year. There is some talk that he may be played across HF or even in the mids. There are so many other players of similar size in Carlton's backline that play a similar role to what Russell has played in the last 2 years. Laidler (inj until Rd 3) Duigan, Yarran, Touhy, Bower & Davies. I would say that at least 3 of those guys overtook Russell in the backline pecking order last year. I'd really want to see what his role is in the first few rounds before investing 350k.

I like Russell as a player. Always thought he could score, but with the amount of decent blues it's hard to.

After watching the Blues vs Dogs game I think I will retract my suggestion. Russell looked lost when he played forward and rarely had the confidence to back his skills down back (went with a big double handed palm down rather than take an uncontested mark in one instance). Plenty of fumbles to go with that, too.

It may be just preseason jitters - let's hope.   ???

You could put Mitch Golby in that group after last weekends showing, has a bit of run about him rebounding from half back.

Grannyboy

At 265k it could be a break out year for him.
