Ok what are your thoughts on this young fella. Miles from GWS is looking like a unique - not a lot of talk lately since Mr Sheedy ommited him from his planned round 1 team.. He has scored pretty well from limited game time so far...

Can he break in??

On a side note I loaded up on him to win the rising star at 500 to 1.... so I am hoping he gets a gig!

Nice odds but you can't win rising star if you don't play , I rate him though. But I think rising star will come from an established club. Ie heppell

yeah agreed... can only hope.... there is a few that had cracking odds that I had a nibble at:
Howard, Bugg, Darley, Weedon, Miles, and Wilson from WC  all massive odds.... obviously massive odds for a reason but nothing would be better to see one of your rookies smashing it from a DT perspective if you also had some coin riding on it!

The good thing about the rising start betting is yes the guys I have listed are massive smokies but they are a far greater chance than what you would get for a Brownlow / Coleman winner at those odds.

For example whats a better bet Nathan Bock to win the brownlow at 500 to 1 or Miles to win the rising star!

If you look back to last year most of the best rookies were not from GC. I now only have 3 GWS rookies.

I'd argue that GWS have done a much better job at recruiting than GC. Wouldn't surprise me if half of the top ten best performing rookies in 2012 come from there. Having said that, I've only got one more GWS rook than you right now.

I haven't got Shiel or Miles in my side atm- my strategy is five super-premiums (500,000+) and rookies, of who I have Zorko (or if injured another DPP forward) and Magner (very cheap very good) with Clifton the other spot, although I'll take a closer look at this leading up to round one and where they are on the teamsheet, with others like Neale fighting for that spot.

EDIT: Have since traded Clifton -> Miles as I need that 20k to upgrade Jacobs to Mummy, however still unsure whether to go him or Shiel.

I reckon the upcoming game this week will tell us truckloads about Miles's opportunity in the team.. PS if Miles wins the rising star will buy you all a beer or three!

whatlez, just purely based on the 2011 averages in NEAFL below. i don't have either player but if Dylan Shiels is named in round 1 i'll lock him in both my DT and SC team. hope this helps  :)
