Club-by-club and by price.

Best Cheapie (< $140k)

Western Bulldogs

Youngster Clay Smith (48) and Tory Dickson (40) were the only rookies that registered a stat for the Dogs.

Carlton

Not much here, with Frazer Dale (41) unlikely to crack into the Carlton midfield IMO. Will Levi Casboult (40) finally get a consistent run for the Blues?

Fremantle

Little known Lachie Neale (65) had had a decent preseason so far, and if he is named round 1, would be a worthy selection. Defender Lee Spurr (44) was the only other rookie for Freo last night.

Richmond

Jeromey Webberley (71) has a bit of experience now, and could be a solid defensive option. A lot of people have Brandon Ellis (61) and Steve Morris (48) in there teams, and they were good with out being great last night.

Best player $140k - $280k

Western Bulldogs

The blistering preseason of Ryan Hargrave (105) continues, and may force himself into many a DT by the start of the season. Easton Wood's (77) forms could also be a factor.

Carlton

A lot has been said about big-man Lachie Henderson (60) but DT is probably not his game. Brock McLean (56) hasn't done enough for me yet.

Fremantle

Would be a brave coach to select Adam McPhee (80), while forward Josh Mellington (69) might slip into Freo's forward line, but need to wait and see.

Richmond

Defender/forward Jayden Post (54) was the best performer for the Tigers.

Best Player $280k - $420k

Western Bulldogs

How about big Will Minson (112)! No. Slap yourself real hard if you ever consider him as a legitimate option, as good a performance it was, he won't do it consistently. There's a lot to like about Liam Picken (124) though, but maybe a struggle to fit into your structure.

Carlton

A big fan of Matthew Kreuzer (84), and as a #2 ruck option could fit well. Just not sure if he can crack 100s regularly.

Fremantle

Tendai Mzungu (119) was all the rage last year, but maybe overpriced this year. If he continues to score like this! Greg Broughton (108) and Paul Duffield (103) are very attractive defense options, while defender/midfield Clancee Pearce (103) and forward Hayden Ballantyne (99) impressed. Ballantyne could spend more time in the midfield this year.

Richmond

Scoring 80 points, Shane Edwards was the best of the Tigers.

Best Premium (above $420k)

Western Bulldogs

Forward Daniel Giansiracusa's (105) stellar preseason continues, and with thin forward options available, maybe he is an option? In the past has been inconsistent. Ryan Griffen (114) and Matthew Boyd (99) will rarely let you down.

Carlton

Evergreen defenders Heath Scotland (91) and Andrew Carrazzo (105) star yet again, and likely yet again will be under-selected. I'm seriously considering one of them. Kade Simpson (98) was his usual consistent self.

Fremantle

Rising superstar Nat Fyfe (74) was the only premium to play fro Freo last night.

Richmond

And similarly, rising superstar Dustin Martin (58) was the only premium to play for Richmond last night.

Will Carrots miss any time over the indiscretions?

mezzoculo

With their new short-kick based gameplan, I think selecting the right Doggies could net you a POD or two. Having not yet watched the game, I'd reckon Gia could be an option.
