definately agree danger has more upside but until i hear sanderson say he will play in the mids more or he actually gets time in there next week with van berlo, and thompson back i wont touch him.

I cant remember where I heard it or read it 4INAROW, but it was along the lines of dangerfield building up his fitness base to play a lot more in the midfield.

Yeah certainly, thompson and van berlo are both blokes who play predominantly midfield, but these days clubs have about 8 players running thru the midfield at various times, so there should be at the very least, some midfield time for dangerfield.

no gaurantees of course, but the indications are that he will get a lot more midfield time than he did under neil craig, who played him predominantly as a forward, and the crows have been disapointing for the past 2 years.  The crows are showing signs of a geelong style of footy and I wouldn't be surprized if they were a big improver this year.

I'm not telling anyone that they should get on danger.  Everyone is big enough and smart enough to pick their own players, but i like the look of danger this year, so I'm jumping on.  I think at some stage he will break out in a big way, and I want to be on board when he does.

Pretty sure that the Crows have said they're going to play Porplyzia through the mids too. Mackay will come back into the team and play midfield. There is only so many spots available, so Dangerfield's midfield time might be 4-5 mins per quarter. Hardly a great reason to pick him.

I wouldn't touch Sidebottom either. Too inconsistent, too much competition through the middle. Swan, Pendles, Thomas, Ball, Wellingham won't be going anywhere. Heater is touted to push up onto a wing a touch too. Plus the two men who everyone have written off will get plenty of mid time. Didak and Beams. It will be 2011 all over again for Sidebottom.

bucks has said beams will spend more time forward and i really can't see didak hitting anywhere good enough form or fitness to dream about playing in any midfield this year

Don't worry about what Bucks tells you. Didak has a slight injury to his shoulder, which won't effect his fitness at all. He'll run up and down the wing all season and return to his best football. Beams will play as a half forward pushing into the mids, just as he did last year. Beams is a far better kick than Sidey, so that equals better scoring. Hitting inside 50 targets is his speciality. Neither of these dudes will play the small forward role. Rounds played his whole career there in the VFL, and will do it in the AFL until Jamie Elliott comes in.

4INAROW

ok in saying that will you have either beams or didak from the start?

Didak is a 99% chance.

4INAROW

apart from didak's price why will you be choosing him given he couldn't recapture his form last year?

especially with a partly interrupted pre-season.

His last few games of the season when he played high half forward were encouraging. Malthouse was an absolute fool to play him as a deep forward, and it is one of the reasons why they lost the GF. His preseason had been flawless up until his little setback, so he'll definitely have the tank to run out games this year - on the wing. He's a quality ball user and very capable of regularly having 25+ possession games. What more do you want for that price?

4INAROW

agree with everything you said, just i'm a pies man and since i was young they've had a habit of dissapointing me lol, maybe i needed to see some of didak in a nab game to atleast get an idea of how he's going and where he'll be playing.

i hope bucks plays him HF/wing like you said and he recaptures his form of 2010.

he's still on my watch list

thanx for the info, always helpful

Im sold on both of them, and have Sidey as F3 in a 4 prem mid-2 prem ruck team. Risky..?

Nick riewoldt averages
2007- 114
2008- 114
2009- 113
2010- 108 (despite missing half the season)
2011- 87 (terrible season and still a better average than danger or sidey have ever managed)

One bad year and he has been written off, but imo has far more potential to score 100+ than either danger or sidey
