Is it a horrible idea not start with either of them, or are ppl of the impression that 1 of them is crucial???

ATM i have pendles however i could really use the 50k i get by downing him to thompson (awesome draw in 2012).....

thoughts?

Pie's look underwhelming. I know it's only preseason but allot can be judged by attitude.  I think they are on path to mimic St Kilda. They have been on the top for a few years and look tired. But that's just my opinion. Im going for the premo guns from the teams that will be fighting hard for the 8 all the way to the death. meaning they wont have the luxury of resting anyone.

pinochio

EXACTLY, I agree with you kuruki 100%!

Excluding Selwood, Boyd and Murphy,

do you think Thompson is the next best choice???
Mitchell is getting older and hawks may do the resting thing as well...
Stanton might be an option with others at the bombers getting more attention?

who is the next best choise you think???

Mr.Craig

If you aren't planning on having Swan and Pendles then Ablett would be an absolute must. Those 3 were usually the best picks for captain last year and if you don't have them you might be giving up 20-30 points each week on your opposition.

yorgis

can you honestly go without  at least 1 swan / pendles. swan does'nt look interested in nab but i 'll bet when the season

proper starts, he'll be there and pendles, well he's going ok at the minute. pies not taking nab serious

pinochio

sorry guys i obv have ablett :)

but i just have a gut feeling about the two pies guns.... ???

Kuruki

Guys like GAJ Thomo Rockliff are good options. The later two i cant see copping a rest. Swan could be heading to arizona. Pendels always delivers but i don't think he is a must have with all the other talent this year.

pinochio

yep!

rocky is awesome but thommos run this year is just swaying me to him..

atm my 4 elite guns are ablett, murphy, selwood and thommo....its not out of the realm of beilef that all these could increase their average right???

yorgis

y would swan be heading to arizona?

Because he said in an article that it was the reason he played so well in the back half and he would be raising his hand to do it again this year. He wants to go.

Chelskiman

I have Pendles and Swan, along with Gazza and Boyd.  Writing the Pies premiums off is a very risky thing to do.

Doesn't necessarily mean he will. Buckley isn't Malthouse remember. If he wants Swan to play in order to give Collingwood their best possible chance this year he will play.

To show you what its like not to have Swan, imagine not having him at the start of last year due to a Nab cup in which he didn't really perform that well.

137 doubled is 274
162 doubled is 324
116 doubled is 232
131 doubled is 262

Imagine having that as your opposing captain for the first 4 rounds. You'd be hugely disadvantaged

Im looking at it from a season point of view not a selected block of games.  I dont think Swan will play 22 games guys like Boyd Thomo Rockliff i think will. For me that makes them more valuable. I'm not expecting i will have many trades to sideways this season, i want to get it right from round 1.
I could still get Pendels but im risking it on leaving Swan out.

Last year people had the same discussion and those who decided to start without swan got burnt. Do it at your own risk, but I would imagine if swan is fit, he will play out the 22 games.

With the Arizona thing, he has put up his hand to go again, but that doesn't mean that he will be allowed to go, or that he will miss games if he does.

In my opinion, you have to have at least one of Swan, Pendles, Jelwood to start. Personally I'll be going with 2 of the 3.

What does it matter?

Regardless of whether you were going for league or overall last year Swan would of destroyed you at the start. What do you do then?

My guess is you had to bring Swan in, just to compensate for the huge scores.

Dt is also a mental game. Not having Swan at the start of last year would have you outside the top 3000 after 5 rounds, meaning that you would already of had that "flower my dream team" adittude
