Which one for the FIRST 12 rounds!

Dustin Martin
Mitch Robinson

Chelskiman

Ablett still rips out monster scores, and he plays for a much worse side.  Now, in no way am I comparing the two, as Gazza is by far superior, but my point is that even when a lesser team like the Tigers play tougher opposition you still get a player or two that can pull out some 95+ scores, and Martin certainly has the ability to do just that.

PowerBug

Dusty wins. Robbo will stuff up this year.

i really dont know why people are saying martin has a tough draw... the only legit tough teams richmond play are collingwood, geelong and hawthorn, and who says that you can't score well against them?

Everybody

That's why they're the top 3 teams. Oppositions don't do as well against them.

Plus what are you talking about? in the first 9 rounds he only plays two teams that finished out of the eight.

His draw is HARD

playing teams who are in the top 8 last year doesnt justify that they're hard to score against? Scott Thompson played in a team which didnt make it yet he averaged more than most midfielders.
Examples of players who scored well against the top 3.

Daniel Cross
Round 6: Collingwood, 109
Round 11: Geelong, 91
Round 23: Hawthorn, 103

Leigh Montagna
Round 1: Geelong, 99
Round 21: Collingwood, 132

Marc Murphy
Round 9: Geelong, 121
Round 17: Collingwood, 93
Round 22: Hawthorn, 114

Gary Ablett
Round 10: Geelong, 92
Round 13: Hawthorn, 135
Round 18: Collingwood, 97
Round 24: Hawthorn, 147

Angus Monfries
Round 15: Geelong, 110
Round 19: Collingwood, 98

Simon Black
Round 16: Hawthorn, 113
Round 22: Collingwood, 94

Joel Corey
Round 5: Hawthorn, 96
Round 8: Collingwood, 104

Ryan O'Keefe
Round 9: Hawthorn, 92
Round 14: Collingwood, 113
Semi Final: Hawthorn, 92

DUSTIN MARTIN

perfect example right here.
plus dusty has shown he can pull them out CONSECUTIVELY against the best.

PowerBug

Robbo will stuff up in that he'll get suspended too often. I've mentioned it before on other Robinson-related threads. I won't be picking him as i can't see him playing more than 20 games.

TheMailman

You didn't really look at all his scores

Round 1 Carlton: 59 points

Round 7 Freo: 62 points

Round 15: Carlton 64 points

Round 16 Essendon 59 points

Round 18 Geelong 67 points

Round 20: West Coast 65 points

Round 21: Sydney 85 points

How many hundreds from top 8 teams?

To compare him to Boyd/Ablett/Murphy is just silly

PowerBug

Yeah but Mails, he is gonna improve this year. :)

But he's not as good as Boyd/Ablett/Swan though

Yeah I have him in my team, its just silly to say that he doesn't have a tough opening draw  :)

I agree, which is why nobody has (unless I've missed something?).  I still think he has more upside than Robbo.  At the end of the season they will both probably average around the same anyway, so it's which ever one fits your structure better.  Martin is ready to really break out though, and I'm willing to bet that those poor scores you mentioned above (the 59-67 scores) won't occur as much as they did last year, and when he has a poor game it will be more around the 75 mark.  That's just my opinion though, and I respect the opinion of anyone else that doesn't share mine.

For the comparing part, I think a couple posts up TMurph was giving comparative figures with Ablett, Boyd etc.

No doubt that Martin will improve, its just the question.

Do you sit through 10 rounds of an 75-80 odd average before he boosts it up to 95?

Or do you get Robinson, who looks set to average 95+ in the first 10 rounds?
