last year horlin-smith and gutrie were considered, but over looked, this year they look more tempting, BUT DONT BE FOOLED! Geelong almost never play a rookie on a consintent basis, that why im going no were near Billy Smedts until maybe late season, Brad Scott's a tease he claims he likes all these "youngsters" but never really gives them a chance, how many young cats will you be taking?

PowerBug

So, technically Stephensen is a rookie, are you going with him??

S_Coach99

Yeah I was thinking last night - its becoming harder to pick a Geelong rookie

except stephenson on the rucks bench

owenbond007

orren lost my love last night if he continues scoring as he did he will only retain his price. Hogan @ 23 years of age looks a likely regular in the team as a position for a tagging mid has been vacated.

Windigo

I think Hogan is worth it. Played a few games and maybe will be Scott's new tagger.

Most Likely but his a 29 year old ruck men, who has a few good years left, compared to a 18-21 year old.

Colliwobblers

will go with the big O, after all West sisn't score much better, think they will both get better with a few more games with the club under thier belts, neither has played any or many.

Thing with big O is he WILL play so unless another rookie ruck looks set to play most games who else is there.

Will go with Smedts too, he will play this season until he sucks and gets dropped (IF).

As for all the other youngsters I'm with the author, can't count on them getting regular games, they will mostly all get gasmes as we saw last season the Cats will rest thier stars throughout the year and fill the gaps with rooks throughout, but regular games? i don't think so.

Ziplock

I voted two, but honestly it's a 50-50 if I'll even go one, and another 50-50 if I'll put the second one in.

Why do you think billie will play? from what i've seen he's not that good, whereas hogan is playing well and he has a tagging spot that he can fit into

Colliwobblers

hogan would be the pick if Scott was smart, he is a great pressure player and fits the role of tagger, but he is a rook, is he seriously going to be given the job on the most dangerous oppositions mids week in week out?

Smedt only missed last season due to injury, was a high draft pick, has talent, will start slowly (as he has) due to playing no footy at all last season, but had a good pre-season....

For me its about JS so chances are I will start neitrher, but if anyone should play it's smedts, nothing to say it wont we in the magoos tho....

Windigo

I've locked in Hogan ATM.

Played one game last year. 7 disposals in 55 minutes of game time.....BUT 20 pressure acts. it means he works extremely hard.

Returned from personal leave in round 12 to the VFL and dominated.

Number 1 for loose ball gets, 2nd for contested possessions, 3rd for clearances, 7th in handballs and 11th for disposals.

18 possessions from 10 games in 2009. Worth a punt at 23.

Agree with Windy .. locked for me at the moment ..  :P

TheMailman

Hogan was a huge impresser

To keep Ablett to 25 possesions or less is not a shabby acheivement to say the least.

Colliwobblers

Yeah you might be right about Hogan Windy he isnt a rook 3 years in and out of the seniors he has had his issues (personal) but seems to be on top of all that, reckon the Cats will give him every opportunity, just a matter of if there is an opportunity, horlin-smith and guthrie shone as well and smedts needs to return on his investment, too much talent in that damned team.

Not to mention Hunt and Taylor and Duncan and Christensen coming through.... need I go on?

Ziplock

ablett didn't play the last quarter.
