Big news today as Frank Lowry has kicked Gold Coast out of the A League effective immediately!

Gold Coast owner Clive Palmer is now taking the FFA to court over the matter!

they are still in the competition until the end of the season

Football Federation Australia wants Gold Coast to play the last four games of the season despite revoking the club's licence

FFA today announced it would talk directly to the players to urge them to field a team in the final rounds independent of maverick owner Clive Palmer.

FFA is prepared to pay the players itself, declaring them "innocent victims" of the controversy.

The final straw was Palmer's bizarre decision to send his team out last Saturday night wearing a free speech slogan, then defying league instructions to remove it.

The A-League wont fold. The FFA themselves need a complete reshuffle as they are a complete joke.

Maybe you could donate them your Hyundai Luigi  ;)

Have you started taking driving lessons in the KMart car park with an older sibling just in case you actually win this thing ?

I reckon if you do win that mOnty should permanently bold your name in Green for live chat  8)

Master Q, please don't pretend that is exclusive to soccer and the A League.

Let's keep the papers for the next 6 months, then you tell me a week where there ISN"T a controversy in both AFL & NRL. I'll admit, the past 2 weeks have been the last thing the game in this country needs, but because it is truly a global sport, the issues tend tend to be magnified.

Rich people in sport don't know much about sport... Just kick Palmer really hard where it hurts, he deserves it :P

The thing about A-League is that it's controversy isn't big enough to make the papers. The A-League is run badly, and I believe they are trying to head in the wrong direction.

What about the players next year? Glory will happily take Thwaite, Halloran and James Brown thanks.
