So my mids go Ablett, Swan, Boyd, Tyson, Wingard and McDonald.
I know it may look a bit lean but IMO it'll be easier to upgrade rookie mids earlier in the season than foward rookies.
Thoughts? What structure are you going with?

I think you'll find alot of people will go with a 3-3 strategy so you should be fine. Keep an eye on Wingard though, apparently Primus has said he won't start round 1, but we will see about that!

mmm you might as well play 1 ruck prem. Not as risky.

JamSainter

No way... 1 premium ruck is way more risky imo.
But if I pick the right mid rookies I might be OK.

And I heard Wingard could be a vest target, watch this space with him.

I'm pretty sure 50% of this site are playing Giles as number 2. And I am one so yeah...

JamSainter

When then it may be a POD for me to go 2 premium rucks?

Considering the depth of mid-rookies I am also thinking of 3 premium mids, plus Lucas and the rest rookies.

Extra cash will be spent on another premium defender and forward as I feel these are weaker areas than Midfield.

From there I will down-grade onto other rookies throughout the season to get some cash for more mid-premo's.

3-3 lean?  3-3 is mean!  It was my second yr last yr and i finished ranked 2577 starting a 2 premium 1 midpricer.  3-3 or 3-1-2 are optimal imo.  This yr im going 3-3 or 3-1-2 with no hesitation.

yea mate 3-3 is fine. you could even go 2-4 especially if you spend smart elswhere. mid rooks look the goods atm out of the rooks. oh yea giles and big O are solid. i think the only way some one will get a leg up by starting 2 premo rucks is if they smash it from the get go - mummy could with favourable draw. also so could cox early....

I had a 2-6 structure in the mids with Giles as second ruck and a fully stacked forwad line but wth the uncertainty now surrounding stephenson i decided to get mummy in th ruck alongside nic na and go with a 3-5 structure in the mids balancing my team more. i see the 1-3 strategy in the rucks a bit too much of a risk now with stephenson not playing well and probably struggling to get a game.

I'm going 3 prem 3 rookie strategy as I want to make sure that I have the best mids come season end as they generate the most points.

Picking blokes like Barlow, Hayes, Shuey, Gibbs, bartel as 4 premium mids will put you behind as they wont finish in the top 6 mids therefore your losing big points.

I'm starting with Ablett Murphy Pendles and will upgrade to the next best three by mid season. This has allowed me to have 5 premium backs with hargrave as my 6 defender and 4 premium forwards with a mid pricer in porplyzia.

I'm also going 1 prem ruck with Giles, Big O and Redden to rotate as it is uncertain who will be the next best ruck behind Cox.

Getting the rookies right and upgrading at the right times will decide if this is a good strategy.

this is a really good point. i do think though that shuey and gibbs can ave 110-120 this year.

As long as I can find enough rookies that will play games in the early part of the season I will be going with 4 top prems in mid same as forward and backline , but it is far to early as a lot of these much mentioned young players have yet to play a game. The only drawback is that I can only afford 1prem ruck+ h-mac.

Starting 3 premo mids is probably the best way of making cash early. Seems the way to go.
