better combo in defense?

lids and a rookie
grimes and hargrave

Nick_1069

both cost about the same amount. just wondering which combo you guys think will score more? (the rookie being a guy like bugg or morris).

also do you think grimes or hargrave can be a 7th back come end of the season?

cheers

Lids + Rookie (100+60 = 160)
Grimes + Hargrave (90+80 = 170)

Grimes and Hargrave, just! And that's dependent on your rookie choice - Could get a freak 80+ rook, but then you'd assume you'd have them anyway.

*Personal estimates obviously - not guaranteed ;)

What if the rookie is Dyson Heppell and ave 80?

i donno, sounds fair enough, but i believe lids will average a bit more than 100, and im not sure if both grimes and hargrave will pay off. tough one.

Lids + Rookie for sure

that rookie should eventually become a premium anyway so you can have 100ish + 100ish = 200ish

Brad,

On his own that rookie cannot become a premium. Where does the extra money come from?

The potential reward of Grimes & Hargraves wins my vote. If one fires you are set and can sell the other. If both fire - bingo.

2 trades, 1 rookie down and 1 rookie up.

finish your team with a team of premiums

tor01doc

Hope Grimes does.

He's in my team at the moment.

Lids later for me. Too many defenders with byes in round 13.

will either one fire though?

that's how i think aswell.. you know what you'll get if ya go 1 rookie down and 1 rookie up

tor01doc

I've read a couple of posts that interest me. The thrust of the argument is that 'tis a rare rookie that can hold up all season long and pump out good scores. Immature body etc etc.

Nail a couple of 'bargain' mature guys (like Grimes / Porps / Brown and a few others) at under the odds and IF they fire you save trades, get points and can go, 'Yippee' really loudly.

MC

The mature aged rookies led the way SC-wise last year - players like Duigan etc played consistently, and scored well. Keep that in mind when choosing your rookies, perhaps not as much emphasis on nab sc form as you'd expect.
