Which mid pricer

Grimes
McIntosh

the raven

WHEN VOTING DISREGARD PRICE/LEFT OVER CASH as this will only be used for minor rookie upgrades and minor things.

Simply put I am deciding where to include a mid-pricer in my team. If I go grimes down back I play a rookie in the ruck. So essentially Grimes + Giles. If I go Mac in the ruck then I will have Mcintosh + rookie (possibly marty clarke or nab cup performer)

Leaning towards Grimes but still not sold on his recent history and run of injuries. Even though Mc had an injury last year he still put up 3 full seasons (07- 22 games, 09- 22 games, 10- 20 games*) and then the 1 game last season.

*Pretty much a full season in 2010. May have been rested or had a slight niggle or something.

EDIT- I know about goldstein verse mc in the ruck and how they could alternate and potentially steal from each other. Also know grimes has wicked potential and picked him last year only to be burnt bad.

That's a weird comparison of two completely different players...

Its not really meant to be a comparison. Its more a question of where to slot in a mid-pricer. It could be risky taking both of them so I would only want one.

Like I said its more like
McIntosh + Marty Clarke
    OR
Grimes + Giles

upthemaidens

if they average the same(lets say 85)  grimes can be a keeper as D6/7  where as hmac isnt a keeper as 2nd ruck and would/should be upgraded later in the season...
so grimes is a better pick

Holz

For me3 it comes down to who the other player is, if its marty clarke v giles than i would go hmac and clarke combo, but its likely clarke will be starting anyway and you will be forced to play a back rookie like morris, ellis, etc.. if thats the case i would pick up grimes because i feel playing giles is much safer and higher scoring than the back rookies.

I say that as i rate grimes and hmac about the same, they both have value thats why im going both.

Ziplock

clarke and giles both have a shot at averaging 80, but are more likely in the 70s. Clarke is more expensive, and there are more options in the backs than rucks. Giles wins out there

Hmac vs Grimes, I think grimes wins- his injuries are his concerns, not scoring potential, and his injury last year was a freak bone break (compared to his normal soft tissue), while Hmacs concerns are his scoring potential due to his role. Best case scenarios, Hmac averages 80s, grimes close to 100. Worst case, pretty much what happened last year for grimes, and for Hmac he moves into deep forward, blows and averages around 70, then gets dropped.

I think grimes + giles.

i agree with zip in theory worst case for Hmac averages 75, will not get dropped. Best case scenario is he goes like Petire and pushes for high 80s. Grimes if fit should go high 80s possibly low 90s but he is alot riskier.

upthemaidens

well with grimes being injuried i guess that makes your decision easier

the raven

Was sold on grimes but now that he is down will have to reconsider once the extent of the injury is released. Thanks guys.

Mcintosh worries me more than grimes and grimes worries me ALOT.
