Super Premiums, why?

Hello everyone, i am wondering why I should pick GAJ, pendles or swan to begin with.
People say you want to have one to ensure u have a solid captain week in week out, and they will supposedly get an extra 10 points (which equates to an extra 20 since they're captain)

But IMO i won't start with any of those super premiums, in my logic i assume that you can choose a premium who is capable of scoring roughly the same for 50-100k less, some premiums i think will go up in price and i think that Super Premiums will inevitalby drop in value, thats when i may pounce.

My current Midfield Premos are Murphy, Boyd, Thomas and Watson.

Ablett will score 200 more than once. That's why.

depends on what you call a "Super Premium" or is this just a group name for GAJ, Pendles and Swan.

It might be and extra 10 points but it could be more. What you look for is consistency. Boyd and Murphy will consistently knock out scores over 110 whilst having a breakout game of 130, whilst Swan, Pendles and Gaj would produce 120s with a breakout of 150+. Watson will get you 100s  but not much bigger then that.

and i assume you mean Daisy Thomas?? he will have a great game of 140 some times but then get an 80.

If one of these "Super Premium" players is your opposition captain and they score 150, and you have murphy with a 120, your 60 points down already.

Thank you all for the contributions, this has helped clear it up.
The only problem with me choosing a super premium is that they start off too expensive and may drop, whlist players like Daisy and Watson should only rise.

But out of these two combos, which would be best

Ablett Grimes

or

Watson Birchall

I feel the second is stronger, so i dropped Ablett for Watson and upgraded Grimes to Birchall

just remember you could be going up against teams with 2 of the 3, some even 3.

Who cares if their price goes up or down in your team. This is only useful to you if you are going to trade that player out.

Are you seriously going to get Swan, Pendles or GAJ and trade them out, NO. So there price fall doesnt matter if they are in your team.

boyd is elite no question but you need a captain from round 1 and ablett #1 swan #2 boyd #3 are teh best choices given their massive scoring potential, 170 something , LOL not so sure about 200 IMO

With all the money I saved I can upgrade to GAJ and Pendlebury by round 3 and Swan and another super premium the round after.

Cant really see GAZ dropping in price very much....1st pre season for a bit....the bald one is a once in a generation midfielder

I assume then by this rule you wont be getting BJ or Franks either

Theres plenty of $$ to throw around even after getting those players listed above

Rd 1 team selection is 50% to having any success....get it wrong...and your back with the rest of the plebs

Find some money and get ablett and selwood, both are great value and then see who you can get after that?

You wouldn't complain with ablett, selwood, murphy and daisy as a starting midfield. (Although for 45k that daisy can be a rockliff or a mitchell etc)

one is enough though if u are gonna get one then id suggest ablett.
