Why you should hold off on getting Buddy!

Hawthorn are playing collingwood, geelong, and adelaide in the first 3 rounds. Looking at Buddy's performances against them last year, he played 1 game against Adel (72), 2 against collingwood (66,79), and 3 against Geelong (95,85,93). A total average of only 81. He is then playing West Coast over there. For his price of 600,000, he will not hold this price. If he scores around the same as this then he will drop price significantly. So you should hold off on him and pick him up when he's much cheaper.

and which rookie is going to reach peak price by round 4 for this trading of buddy in?

Rowan1812

Im saying that there is no point getting buddy at the start of the season. You may as well save 100,000 or so and get someone else and then when he drops a lot in price pick him up.

I reckon it's a great idea that everyone should do ;)

Even if he does drop, he will only be back up at 600k by the time you have someone to cash in to get him. Besides, league rounds don't start until round 3, so unless you're going for overall I wouldn't worry at all, everyone will have him anyway

Even more reason to get him. Those first couple games wont really affect his price much or for long.

E.g that Collingwood game will only be in 1 price change as the next week it wont make up the 3 week rolling average. therfore its best to play your worst team first up. The Geelong game will only be in 2 price changes etc and Adeladie, well it Adelaide and he could well pump out a monster.

Thanks auscoyote. I think this little bit of research i did and shared is an important move for some people to hold off on buddy. If he averaged around the same in the first three games and then doesn't score a big score at the subiaco against west coast then his price is likely to drop below 500,000 and stay around there until around round 6 or so when you would have made money on players and can do some trades and get him in.

Im going for overall so think this is a way to get a jump on the other teams with buddy in them. Its all about taking risks.

auscoyote

Actually mate, i was being sarcastic. Why would you want to burn a trade on someone that you are only going to get in 4 rounds later. But if you think it will work by all means do it. Its about risk and reward. Like ya thinking outside the box though. Keep up the research and best of luck!

Realistically you will be waiting until bout round 8 or so to be able to afford him, will take a while for your cash cows to be ripe.... If he is in your plans, you should just start with him....

If you had a choice of Goodes or Buddy you have to go Goodes. Buddy has averaged 81 against the first 3 teams and Goodes has a very easy run for 10 rounds or so. Goodes has GWS, then free at home, then port then north. So Goodes should smash Buddy in those first 4 weeks alone so isn't that enough to justify getting Goodes over Buddy?

If ya cant afford both then ya you answered your own question. Go goodes and hopefully upgrade to buddy later. But do so at your own peril.

Each to there own mate, you don't heed to justify to us your team... Personally however I will be getting both goodes and buddy  ;)

You can't look at history. I watched him last week, he is not going to be cheaper than what he is now. He is an unbelievable player, watch him average 130+ this year. Who has averaged 25 posis & 4 goals a game? You will see that this season. Those who leave him out will have to burn 3 trades to get him later. Tread carefully with this one.
