Regarding the thread title, I say meh.

It's not a huge deal...

Do you lot who reply like this put no thought into strategy?

BB makes an excellent point.

Take Boyd who hopefully will play 22 averages 115

Swan plays 21 averages 120.

Let's say you make both captain every week.

Boyd scores 5060 points for you

Swan scores 5040.

By choosing Boyd over Swan you score 20 more points.

Now tell me Swan resting a week isn't going to hurt.

Not too mention your ability to spend the extra coin else where.

all valid points you make BGK.....thats the beauty of DT, so many opinions and variables

Well Swan is saying that he will retire in 2014. So you don't know what he's going to do these days...

I suppose you have to take into account that you would have someone else captain the week Swan misses. But if you can pick the premiums that wont miss a game you will ahead. I know its unlikely but its something to think about.

There are so many variables in this game, if you dont consider everything your not giving yourself the best chance of winning.

so you play a rookie over swan, that's 70 points. So it's still swan ahead by 50.

But take into account the extra cash you've used else where. Does that make the points up? It's a personal preference.

That 25k could be the difference between you being able to pick Buddy over Robinson etc.

who gets suspended and rested every year, unlike swan who got injured once this year and missed one game

Just an example bro. Nothing more, could've been anyone.

100+ fwds
beams- only played 14 games, struggled with form
chapman- aging, injury issues (although none in recent years)
stevie J- over priced, aging and roller coaster tendencies

100+ def-
nobody

100+ rucks- cox, aging and over priced

so in that price range for premiums who aren't mids, not that many options. You're missing out on 10 ppg having boyd over swan (at least). If you think that can be made up elsewhere with 16k, go for it.

1st Swan averaged 5 points per game more than Boyd, so no at least, it's 10 if you include captain.

2nd the don't have to average over 100 to be applicable in this situation. If the cash difference alowed you to purchase a 90 ppg forward over an 80 ppg forward. There is your 10 points.

3rd the difference between Swan and Boyd is 25k not 16k.

Ziplock

10 including captaincy. TBH though, if swan stays injury free you can probably double that. It's justifyable going ablett over swan, the price difference and potential scoring difference weigh out. Boyd over swan though? the 24k isn't worth it. Unless you think you can pick up a player who will average more than 10 ppg more this year, and you can't afford them without it, I don't see the point. It's situational... even so, I would be going selwood and rockliff over boyd anyway :P

Spite

If Pendles is having a blinder of a year and is brownlow favourite, I personally think that the club would not rest him and ruin his chances of a brownlow. To me, Pendles is a safe option, but swan will average higher.
