Down to 1 donut R11-13 with no dpp rucks

At the moment with the team i have i stand to get just one donut without using dpp rucks. I can shift the donut to any round if i wanted to. r12 or 13 is just a matter of which rookie i start with. Otherwise whichever i picked i could trade dg in r11 for a r11 rookie giving me the donut that week.

So my plans each round are:

R11.
- I roate dpp D/M's
- dg a mid rookie for a r11 rookie
- dg a fwd rookie to a r12 rookie

R12.
-Move back my dpp D/M's,
- Shift dpp M/F's, the player going fwd is benched,  then ug the dpp rookie moved into the midfield for a r11 prem
- dg a fwd rookie to a r11 rookie
- ug a back rookie to a r11 prem

R13.
-dg a back rookie
- ug a back rookie to a prem
- Dg or swap a rookie for a r11 or 12 rookie in the fwd line



This means i face one donut in r13 fwds. and use a total of 8 trades (3 Upgrades, 4 downgrades and 1 either a dg or a straight swap for another rookie)


where my prems are
r11. 1 prem ruck on bench
r12. 2 backs, 2 mids, 2fwds, 1 ruck prem on bench
r13. 2 backs, 2 mids, 2fwds on bench


back line goes  4-5, 6-3, 6-3

Mids goes 6-2, 5-3, 5-3 (Likely to be +1 prem with a rookie dg and an upgrade prior to r11 if all goes to plan)

Ruck 2-2, 2-2, 2-2

fwds 3-1-5, 4-5, 4-5 ( may also be +1 prem if things go to plan but also wont affect bye plans)

Wouldnt think to hard about that yet. By round 11 you would have wanted to bring in a few prems already and traded some of those players out.

Looks good on paper but dont forget by round 11 your team will change quite a bit.

Personally im not worrying about the byes just picking the best team possible and then trading towards them.

Not the best strategy. Seen people copping only 2 donuts with using 6 trades. Shouldn't need to use 8 trades over those 3 weeks..

i'll be quite surprised if most people dont get 4-5 donuts over the byes, just because ALL the players that are meant to play have too actually play ( and we all know how rare that is)

i realise the chanes of all playing are not that good, however, its set up in a way that will at least minimise donuts, plus as i trade prior to bye rounds hopefully its to players with more job security.


I can get by with 6 trades no sweat, there was 2 extra trades i was going to make around bye round time who should be cash cows ready to off load. Coinciding those extra trades with bye weeks means more cash for better prems was my thinking

too hard for me to understand without a spreadsheet :) DPP i dont see how it changes anything unless it is dpp rucks, unless i see it shown like i have on  a spreadsheet i cant understand how the structure can be changed at all to avoid donuts just by moving players from def to mid or fwd to mid or visa versa, you still have exactly the same number of players from each bye round no matter where you move them. (excepting ruck dpp that is)

check my thread with the spreadsheet do up your own spreadsheet, it is VERY easy and show us how it works then i will believe it, at the moment i think you get 2 same as everyone else without dpp rucks.

and yes to what everyone else says if players on teh field through the byes are rested or not listed then they are extra donuts.

i have always maintained you will get 2 UNAVOIDABLE donuts without DPP RUCKS, that doesnt mean you won't get more  :(

I actually had an idea how to avoid byes too. Dont pick a starting squad, just quit the game.
Seriously though, my advice would to be not buy into this 8/11/11 structure. Look beyond for a better one.
