Hey all :)
I've just joined dream team and I'm wondering if some people could provide me with some advice.
I'm not too certain on my team selection at the moment as I feel that I've invested too much on the big names and not enough on the others. What changes should I make?
Thanks in advanced :)

Ziplock

quite conventional guns and rookies strategy, the only players that may differ are Zaha, Kreuz and Birchall. As far as uniques go, I don't rate most of those as amongst the best. Kreuz is an interesting pick, and I rate him to be a bit of a wild card this season, but Zaha's had off season injury concerns, and didn't really perform in NAB cup, while I'm not a massive fan of Birchall, his scoring is too dependent on his teams game plan.

Also, you've skimped out on your rookies far too much. Take it from someone who made this mistake last season- you're better off downgrading someone and getting in solid rookies across the lines, rather than having to field 80k basement rooks- they're generally rookies with poor JS and low scoring potential. Honestly I would downgrade coniglio and use the cash to move your rooks up to the 100k mark.

Ziplock?? I don't see Birchall on this team, you mean Burgoyne? The guns look ok in your team but the rookies are very much lacking, I can't see many there that I'd have in my team. The Cox Kreuzer combo could do well but as Ziplock suggested, downgrade a gun I suggest Zaha, and get some decent rooks in! There are a few midpricers that could fit well too, I don't see any of your players having break-out years, it's a pretty 'safe' team.

Ziplock

*cough* yes.

it is like 5am in the morning after all :P

well, imo burgoyne is a better pick that birch anyway. more of a proven scorer at a cheaper price, seems to have a classic yo-yo scoring average. That being said, I find his age concerning. Even so, could end up being like cox, scotland or goodes... oldies but goldies :P

Thanks for the tips!
As I said; I'm fairly new to AFL dream team and don't know who the real potential players are. Who are the hot-shots I should be looking at? Thanks :)

Firstly, welcome to DreamTeam and FanFooty. My advice, take a look around the other boards and there are lots of good pointers there.

As for your side, i remember doing the same thing in the mids, getting the best 3-4 available.

Good Luck with you side and stick around on the forum :D

Cheers for the welcoming mate! I'll have a look around for some names.
Thanks :)

After a good 20-40 mins of browsing the history forum posts on some great buys I've came up with a new and improved team :)
What do you people think of it?
If I go for Dangerfield over Westhoff, I can get some better bench players like Stephensen for ruck, Smedts for foward and another 100k worth midfielder?
Thanks in advanced :)

Scalahad

I think subbing danger for westhoff would be a better approach as i dont think danger will be at full fwd this season.
You need to keep an eye on some of your players as there are some injury clouds over a few of them eg. porps, treleor and mitchell. Use NAB to help you choose some rookies.
robbie gray is a pretty unique pick, not alot of teams ive seen have him due to his history with injury and well he plays for port, but kudos to you if he works out for you.
Nice job for first time, good luck mate   :P

Hitman3095

Cheers for the feedback mate!
Apparently Treloar is a upcoming superstar so I might keep him in. Brought in Christensen instead, good move?
Another question; what about Winderlich over Porps? I guess he came back from an injury but could be a good trade?
Also, I could always choose someone over Gray if it's that much of risk?
Thanks and good luck to you as well mate :D

Here's my updated team..

hmmm... okay. Worked on the team more, how's this now?
Also, is it worth finding more funds for Boyd over Murphy?

Jukes

Pros: Great midfielders and forwards. Good choice of rookies.
Cons: Conca will miss the first two weeks. Armstrong not very good choice. Too many mid-price backs; downgrade Conca and upgrade Armstrong.
Overall: Strong side but room for improvement. 8.2/10

Hitman3095

Okay, thanks for the advice :)
- Carrazzo for Armstrong  ?
- Morris for Conca
  $7,600 left

- Leuenberger for Mumford? or upgrade Kavanagh? Thanks.

Well done mate. The one thing i've noticed since you've started readin are the rookies have improved, and they aren't 85k guys anymore :) Very good work, team looking good, and it'll score well. :D
