i'm not keeping up with the tech and i'm getting older each day ...  ;)

my Sony Ericsson W595 that came with my 'tight-a*se' plan is starting to die ...

anyone know what the best deals out there are to get a 'free' phone on a plan around $19-$39 per mth (do they still do 2yr plans??)?

do I go smartphone or stay away?

i don't use my phone that much, i mainly text and I think i'd only need a little bit of data to check sport and SC/DT scores and that would be about it ...

what's everyone got?
anyone really happy with their deal??

Stay away from Smartphones unless you want the top ones (Galaxy etc.)

The cheap ones suck.... at least mine does  :P

cheers tabs, will check it out ...

mails, i take myself as warned.

generally i've found people with their iPhones love them and not that they're trying to convert everyone else but ... they love them. HTC people seem to be not as satisfied and Samsung people don't really push them ... any other thoughts??

I have an iPhone. Attracts people who use it a lot or don't use it much (ease of use). You can get it for $29 a month at a lot of places plus a few bucks for the phone each month.

BGK

Ive had the I phone 4 for 18 months or so, and cant fault it. I love it, cant live without it. Its great for keeping up with the footy scores.

Im not keen on the Galaxy. Its speaker seems to be a bit funny and the people you are talking to sound strange and muffled.

Just be careful with the $29 plans as they have bugger all data and it costs a fortune if you go over. But in saying that i have 2 gig and barely get over 500 meg each month.

The F.A.R.K.

Crazy johns do some great cheap deals like 10 and 19 buck caps with decent phones. I think some compnies have free texts to all providers and some do free calls others do great internet and data deals. My advice is to go to a mall with lots of providers go to each store and say i am looking for ....... what can you do then say ill come back and go to the next store do the same and pick the one that sounds best to you. Or go to a store like all phones who have mutiple providers and tell them what you want how much you want to spend what sort of phone you want how you use it and they will hook you up

Master Q

With an iPhone you don't need to worry about going over your text limits. Free texts to iPhones + Free texts if you are on 3 or Vodafone or something like that...

Capper

depends on the plan whether you get free text or not and the apps you use. You can send free SMS using andriod apps as well

I am using te Moto Razor and had no issues with it

elephants

Dropped my Smasung Galaxy S into my swimming pool. If you get one of those... Don't do that ;)
Sorry mate not the techy myself. Hope you get whats best for you!

j959 it depends a little on what company your getting the plan for. Im a fan personally of Samsung and i find them pretty easy to use, possibly a bit harder than a iPhone but that's mainly because everyone has an iPhone. You will have to pay a little more for an iphone and in my opinion its not worth it but they are probably the easiest to use smartphone.

For example if you were vodafone, you can get the galaxy nexus and the galaxy s2 both on the 29 contract with an extra 5 for the phone. Both great phones i have the samsung nexus a older version of the galaxy nexus and i love it. The only negative with it is i find if you dont switch it off every day and restart it sometimes it crashes, but nearly everytime it just comes back on. Worst case scenario is you take the battery out restart it and it works fine.

If you can get an iphone 4 that would be a good option due to the reason above. No point in getting the iphone 4s too expensive and you wont need it.

i think a smart phone is the way to go, takes a little getting used to but its worth it in my opinion just for the bigger screen, making it easy to read. I cant imagine going back to a small screen phone.

if they are all the same price i would recommend someone who isnt going to mess around with the phone too much go iphone 4 first, galaxy nexus next than the galaxy s2
Hopefully i have helped and not confused you more, i tend to do that
