Just thought I would see what people thought of Shannon Hurn. The man was everywhere in his first NAB Cup hitout? Is he in or out of your team???

elephants

Teams surely won't let him play like that every week. He has to expect a lot more attention when the real season comes around. A good smokie but I'm not sold (although I love him!!)

I'm thinking he may get the odd defensive forward tag at times but he is definitely the quarterback of that Eagles defense. He strolls up forward to kick the odd goal from 70 metres out as well ;)

I'm giving him very serious consideration.  Looks like he may have that spark back that made him so valuable 2-3 years ago.

Beautiful long kick and good in the air. More watching time is required. Will be watching his next couple of games carefully. Think eagles would be a shot at winning the NAB cup.

yorgis

i don't feel he will be a consistent

I'm giving him serious consideration. I read an article just recently that said hes one of the most improved eagles in terms of running, they always look for him to kick the ball and hes just an all round lad. Despite his rapidly receding hairline, hes only 24- keep him on your radar.

SydneyRox

Yeah, loved the way he slutted around last night. If he can continue that over the next few rounds I would seriously consider.

picker_man

needs to show more consistancy to get close to a spot in my team

I'm a click away from putting him in my team. Could be a very good smokey indeed.

Colliwobblers

devestating Hurn on the back of a devestating forward press.

Thats the key, if WCE can execute the fwd press that well then Hurn will be marking and kicking back in from 50-80m out from opposition goal time and time again like we saw in nab cup, has a cannon for a boot too so can kick goals from 60... with a breeze ?

im tempted..

In.
Fits my structure, and Hurn is a freak. Love watching him play.

SydneyRox

I didnt see the Essendon game, but versus the Dockers, that fwd press really worked, and like CW said he was the release man, receiing the ball and pumping back into the 50 with his massive kick. If WC play another game like that I think Hurn becomes almost a lock in my team

Considering... When Hurn starts to pile on the stats he gets tagged out of the game because he can become so dangerous. This happened last year so the eagles seemed to use Butler who was often free around the centre of the ground behind the zone.

SydneyRox

The dockers tried something similar, they had Hurn matched up to Mundy, but he was too busy chasing the ball around the other players Hurn simply moved into space.
