Who will be Hawks No 1 Ruck?

Looking at Hawthorn who will be there No 1 Ruck IMO Hale is incapable, Bailey has played 19 games since 2006 and roughhead is coming back from serious injury although he is the best for that position . Will Broc McCauley assume that position til Roughy gets back, I think he will go quite well and could surprise any thoughts?

Bailey was okay last season. He'll get first crack I reckon.

Ziplock

I can see bailey rucking number one. But the hawks still have hale as well. Both of these guys would be before mccauley pretty easily at this point.

Scrads

Bailey and Hale and assuming Roughy is fit, him too. McCauley has next to no chance of playing barring disaster, as I think our two young gems in Lowden and Grimley may get games ahead of him in drastic circumstances.

The Silent Partner

I guess its just my opinion that I really dont rate Bailey or Hale, Roughhead when fit will be there I see McCauley playing at some stage though

Colliwobblers

well i went to the prospectus for help to answer this question and basically, if there is a club in more trouble in the ruck department than the bulldogs, then Hawthorn is that club.

Doesn't rate Baily,
Not a fan of Hale,
thumbs down to rookie listed players, pattison, mccauley,
lowden a sneaky chance if bailey is injuered,
grimley - things would have to be pretty desperate in the hawks ruck division for him to make an impact....

sounds like things already are

roughhead will be back mid year but in what form remains to be seen, favourites for the flag, maybe not

The Silent Partner

Its interesting isn't it with a lot of options in the rucks and a few players holding down no 1 undoubtedly and teams like this that are clutching at straws it seems maybe a ruck downgrade in the hawks nest

Scrads

I encourage everyone who doesn't rate Bailey and/or Hale to look at how they both went last year, especially after the Geelong game when roughy went down. I don't claim them to be world beaters, but personally I think 'not rating' them is a little short-sighted.

I'll probably get destroyed for saying this but how necessary is a gun ruckmen? I know all good teams have at least one superstar but if you have a good enough midfield that can read the opposition taps you should do pretty damn well. Mitchell, Hodge, Shiels and Isaac Smith running around in the Hawks midfield, I don't think they will struggle to much. Still my pick for the NAB cup :P

Scrads

Valid point LE. Cox and Sandi have been the best 2 Rucks for ages yet apart from WC last year, neither team has been any good during that period.

bowyanger

Bailey...daylight...Lowden, McCauley as #1 ruck at Hawks this year

Hale , Roughnut & Patti as pinch hitters

I wouldnt really call that weak.

Port are in a world of trouble

I think Bailey, if he stays fit, can become dominant with a bit more confidence

One word LE, sandi

take how the side goes with him, and how they go without him. and thw #1 aint that bad, so yeah a gun makes a difference.

the best midfield in the comp cant do anything about it if a gun ruck taps it into his team mates hand every time, except tackle...

as a pies supporter when jolly was really average, i remember watching time after time after time losing the clearance and getting the ball back on half back and doing it the "hard way" every game for a whole season and against the goos sides thats a dissadvantage you struggle to make up for.

yorgis

why was mc cauley recruited then ??

do keep in mind rthe comments i listed out of the prospectus are not ratings neccessarily of the players ability it is on thier DT/SC relevance and pickability :)
