Is a 4 premium, 2 mid price starting midfield too much ?

 If you got it right with around 12 forward and defensive rookies you could have a starting midfield of 5 guns 1 decent mid-priced and 2 rookies. You'd really want your gun mids to keep their scores/prices up and most of your rookies would have to play. You might get a jump on people early with a midfield of say Swan Pendels Ablett Mitchell, Judd, Barlow, Trelor, Sheil, but should they drop below their starting prices, as they surely will, other trade savvy coaches will start reeling you in.
Having said that mids do score the most so there might be something in your theory, but its seems rather risky, for me 3 starting guns is plenty.

I have since changed to 4 guns, 1 mid price, 3 rookies.

Still rolling with 5 guns 3 rookies but that will change if Morris/Ellis/Wilkes/Brown don't perform or get games in the nab.
