crows would be VERY VERY dissapointed to NOT make the 8 this season.

All depends on 1) the coaching staff.  2) Sydney / Essendon / St Kilda / Bulldogs / Fremante / Richmond / Norths seasons.

I agree the Crows have a side that can make the 8 and even win finals. (one or two) :)

Top 4 is pretty much locked away i think with the pies cats hawks and blues to be realistic. Then you have West Coast if they can maintain they can push for 4th-6th.
I will sing "We are the navy blues" if Carlton finish above West Coast at the end of the Home and Away season this year.  ::)

yes i said west coast can push for 4th -6th, 4th being "ahead" of the blues. It is tough for them to finish so high with all the travel lets be honest top 4 against the big 4 melbourne clubs(counting cats) is an elite achievement.

Personaly I hope the eagles finish as high as possible, without beating us that is....

Matt_352

I think the crows could get 8th but not higher

can we get back to my actual flowering question

now tex can take an overhead mark would you consider looking him over during the nab cup????

Daniel Talia is a very capable half back and rutten will be back soon. In the meantime they have Luke Thompson, Sam Shaw, Lewis Johnston and Shaun McKernan to fill the void temporaily. Then you have Johncock, Doughty and quality half backs like Mackay, Petrenko, Luke Brown, Van Berlo and even Pops will get a run there. Pretty sure that is a decent backline. Thie mids are strong Thompson and Sloane will form an untaggable duo then Dangerfield is still only 21 and set for a breakout. Then Tippett and Walker who both know how to find the goals just cant win contested marks. Sanderson has worked hard on putting on muscle and this will help them take more marks in foward 50 therefore more shots on goal. Add to this the team age is still on of the lowest in the leagues and they will be top 4 ina  few years and at least top 8 this year. Go ahead and argue all they want but the proof will be in the pudding at the end of the year
The proof may be in the pudding, but it ain't in your argument (sorry, had to say that)!!! The majority of players you touted for your backline have either been rather injury probe or still green. Dangerfield has been set for a breakout year since the dawn of time! And if Thompson and Sloane are the only two midfielders to worry about, I'd be fine with that :) also if Tippett had a Cloke-like revival and learned to kick straighter along with marking stronger, then he would be a real danger like Johnno Brown

Dont get me wrong, I like the Crows (certainly more than Port), and I think in five years time they will finish third behind GCS and GWS, but I wouldn't give them that much hype right now. Let the fruit ripen before you try to sell it :)

PS. I apologise again for that opening remark I made. Had to run with the analogy :)

There's one big reason I'm not picking Kurt or really any sort of Adelaide player

Inconsistancy. One moment Dangerfield, Tippett etc. take 6 marks and 3 goals in a quarter to sit on like 40 points but finish the day up on 60-70 points because they simply go missing when any form of attention is placed on them. The only Crow who might fit outside this bracket is Thompson

this is just what we have been arguing about in swans thread. The reason Danger and co. have inconsistency is their age. Danger is still only 21 years old. Some rookies dont play their first season until they are 21!! People have been expecting way to much of him for too long. Yes he now has 50+ games experience but he is in a developing team. Danger is now one of the top leaders at the crows and 2012 onwards will be his year. He has put on 4kg, spent all pre season in mids rather than fowards and is set to add 20 ppg to his average. Tippett will always be crap. He cant mark and even when he does he rarely follows through with goals. He should have really been a ruck but he has lost his aerobic capacity and wont be able to keep up with the play for a whole day.  Crows should cut their losses and trade him off to GC and get a great deal and pick up some youth.

I think you might be retracting that coment come the end of 2012 season with p[layers like sloane, danger, tex, petrenko, talia and wright coming through the ranks

yorgis

agreed jb they are only a middle of the road team. i don't think they can get the ball cleanly to him often enough and their

defense is very raw[ thompson, shaw, talia, johnston, mc kernan, petrenko, brown, etc not exactly household names ]

defenderss dont have to be household names. Was ben reid a household name. They also have rutten and johncock who are household names. Rutten will be back it isnt a season long injury

TheMailman

Ben Reid still isn't the biggest household name......

The grand final showed he still has a bit to learn
