With Phil Davis being made co captain at GWS thoughts on whether he is a viable alternative to Lake given that ball will be mostly in back quarter. Could he be the Bock of 2012.

I think he's definitely a viable option and could be a decent selection.  He's been in and out of my team several times so far.

I think Lake has a higher ceiling but also has greater risk.

For me, the difference between Davis and Bock/Lake is his lack of experience. Would be a gamble given his younger years. I know you have to take risks, but that is too big a risk for me.

Seeing as Davis is the only experienced player in the backline, along with Cornes/Power (depending on where Sheedy plays them), I predict he'll be getting heavy tags each week. Plus, his scores weren't great last year, and he's playing for a team that is going to get slaughtered most weeks. That certainly wont help his scores.

Lake won't be getting tagged, does have a higher ceiling and is part of a solid team.

Lake easily IMO.

Also Bock seemed to struggle at the start of the year getting used to the GC structures and game plan and he is far more experienced than Davis. it may take him a year or to to find his feet fully understand the game plan, structures and players around him and deliver high scores on a regular basis.
