Does anyone know what the likelyhood of Sam Gibson getting promoted off the Rookie list at North is? Priced at $94700 and being 25 he could be one to watch..

I have a mate who is a NM supporter who was talking about this guy. But i am just unsure how likely it is that he will get promoted early in the season?

If anyone wants to have a look at the article

Being a North supporter myself, I was very wary when they chose Sam Gibson in the PSD.

While he looks like a very solid player, you've got to remember that North's midfield is stacked as it is. So even before his elevation, you've got to consider how/when he'd get a game.

Swallow, Wells, Harvey, Adams, Ziebell, Bastinac, Anthony, Greenwood can all play in the midfield and are all in the best 22 (along with Atley, Harper, Cunnington, MacMillan who are possibles), and unfortunately I can't see Gibson debuting unless one of these players are injured. Wells of course is still recovering from blood clots, so it's more than possible that Gibson takes Wells's spot for the time being.

But long-term, it's not going to be easy to get into the best 22 for Gibson, but he's definitely first in line for a debut and a rookie elevation. It's just a matter of time. When? I honestly don't know, but I hope it's sooner rather than later.

Thanks Caveman.

I was really interested as he is 25 and you dont pick up players that are that old for no reason.
My thoughts were also him being used until wells is fit and ready as he seems like an outside midfielder.

The NAB cup will hopefully tell the tale.

He's a certain starter for each of the NAB Cup games, due to Wells's omission, and if he does in fact continue to dominate in the midfield, then I wouldn't be opposed to seeing him take Atley or Cunnington's spot in the team.

Of course, I'm not sure that the rules are on rookie elevation too and how they could instantly fit him into the time if he does well in the NAB Cup.

NM have 1 spot to to elevate a rookie look out for this bloke to take it

IMO atley is still a little way off and could find himself being vested for a few games this year
