I know this sounds like a no brainer....HOWEVER!!

I think VB could have a massive year and price will rise to be close too if not as good as Thompson.

Appreciate feedback.

i dont think vanberlo had thomos ceiling. a 51 disposal game, but that wasn't his best DT game at 151, the one with 9 tackles and a lowly 40 possesions was at 154.  take out his 4 60-75 point games and he is a super star.

That said and thomo locked, vanberlo will improve and would be a good pick but thomo will avg more i'm tipping.

Thanks mate....

My thinking was based on using the extra $70K to put another gun in my DEF (took it from 4 to 5) as it gives me better coverage on byes with still giving me half my team as rooks. I had Armstrong and was able to swap him for Heppell.

Thompson will average more than VB (most likely) but Heppell's average will be greater than the difference between Thompson and VB.....if that makes sense.

Colliwobblers

100% correct. makes it a tough call when you put it like that, i'd take heppell and vanberlo over armstrong and thompson.

Didn't VB put our consistent 100's after the change of coach? I know I'll be checking out his NAB form for sure.

Artax

VB will be a great unique no doubt

popedelio

difference is that no one is 100% sure how vb is gonna go, where as thommo we know he will still perform, really watch NAB form, and if he isnt performing, i wouldnt go him

Juddster5

Van Berlo is a good unique pick but if your looking for big consistent scores thompson is your man.

I don't think the way to go about it is to compare having these two in your side. Thompson should be compared to Rockliff and Van Berlo should be compared to Barlow. Which ever one applies depends on your structure. I'm starting to sound like an AFL coach now...

Thommo is having surgury on both shoulders, so he may not be apart of NAB cup and may be a little sore by rd1.

Oh that's gunna make my Rockliff Thomo dilemma easier.

Im with VB, think he will average over 100 given form at the end of 11. His price being 70k cheaper big tick for me
Barlow being the other mid price in my team

He looks alright in this training photo

tough one isn't it....for the extra $$ saved I'm swinging to VB too..

thomo a champ - but i pencilled in VB too given his avg over 2nd half of season - finally showed what he really could do with some nice big 100's...

i'm just not sure whether I'm willing to risk both Barlow and VB even thogh I recon both will avg 100+...

am I either brave - or stupid to consider them ??
