Wild Thing

Where to start...

1. Beau Waters is a huge gamble as he gets enough of the ball but butchers it when he gets it.
2. I'm not convinced Heppell will be as effective as last year considering Winderlich and Dempsey are both back in similar positions.
3. Lenny Hayes as a 32yo coming back from a knee reco in an ageing side???
4. No Ablett, Swan or Pendlebury and if Hayes is a keeper, you can only fit two of those three into your final side
5. McIntosh playing second ruck to Goldstein and second or third tall forward behind Petrie and Edwards = lack of scoring potential
6. Jonno Brown as a key forward in an ordinary side doesn't augur well for scoring well.
7. Cory Dell'Olio probably won't play and you need both bench players to be playing pretty much every week.

These are all just personal opinions of course but I think there are better options out there.
Replace Waters with a rookie and upgrade Hayes to super premium.  Then I'd downgrade J. Brown to a rookie and use that money to upgrade Zaharakis to Franklin/Johnson/O'Keefe/Pavlich etc and if you can afford it, Broughton or Enright to Goddard.

Deledio - hammy?
Waters / Hayes - slightly risky but do have an upside if they stay fit - worth the risk?
Need GAJ / Swan / Pendles / Goddard / Buddy - at least ONE of them!!
McIntosh - not for me.

Good luck.

Sorrry to take so much of what you said Wild Thing but I think for the most part it is pretty sound advice.
My personal take on some things is a little different and I will offer my opinion as well.

Agree with Heppel - Great year last year but not a chance imo of getting better, more chance of a slide this year.
Pendles / Ablett / Swan are seemingly must haves, although I think Murphy is good chance to cover for one of those. I would scrap Hayes and try my hardest to get on of them in as well. Selwood is another I would be careful of. Will be interesting to see what sort of trends develop this year with resting players, but I think that Geelong are one step ahead of everyone else and Selwood might find himself in positions to preserve himself (forward or back pocket or subbed out) when games are not in the balance. Enright also fits in to that category for me.
J Brown is in my side. I think he is a solid choice for the price. He isn't as prone to recurring injuries as a lot of players in the returning category.  I can see him spending a bit more time forward of centre half forward than a lot of key forwards in weak sides. He is always a presence and always demands the ball, has for a long time and will score pretty well I think.

Just a couple of thoughts, sorry I used your post so much Wild Thing, just wanted to present another view. Best of luck to you both.
