Spite if you set up with 2 gun mids ill let you in on my $100 buy in league

I went 1 premium mid last year with Swan and all rooks. Started the year in the top 1k for the first 3 rounds, finished 2.5k.

...So no one else is going with 2 gun mids...  awkward...

In probably too simple terms, coniglio/wingard will hopefully score 30 pts each more than a defender rookie, and a defender super premium (deledio/shaw/suckling etc) will hopefully score within 30 of a premium midfielder.

I have a feeling that backlines are going to go crazy with this press this year and rack it up, so I am investing in that :S

Considering David Swallow averaged 76 last season and he went very well, i highly doubt you are going to get anywhere near 30 points on a back rook. That would mean if Coniglio scored similar to Swallow your expecting a 46 avg from your back rookie's.

Seb tabe? If you think about it, there isn't a lot of job security for the back rooks this season. Morris/Ellis could potentially average 50 each, you never know.

That all being said, I will probably start with 3 gun mids this year, I am not impressed with the back rookies this year and think buntine, docherty, smedts, darley etc will NOT play round one, leaving people with ellis/morris to play on the field - something I am not keen on.

Just something to think about :)

+1
but I'm liking the look of the mid priced DEF such as Conca, Armstrong, Gilbert, Duffield, Grimes, Waters and Lake as they all provide a varied range of options!!

A three midpricer backline and 5 gun midfield? I think I am on to something.

There's more chance your going to find a back rookie that averages closer to a back premium then finding a mid rook that averages close to a mid premium.

Most of us will look for 110 as bottom line for a gun mid.
In the back's 90 would be a great bottom line for your last defender.

That means to get a similar result when you weigh up cashcow vs  points difference between rook and premium, and considering how long you can get away with keeping the rookie before you fall behind the pack. If your mid rook averaged 80 points in comparison a back would only need to avg  60. I think there is way more benefit in having mid premiums and back rooks, rather then back premiums and mid rooks.

Points win dreamteam not money. Look at last years results. There was higher priced teams beaten by sides that had more points on the board, that were worth less cash. For me it's all about more points asap.

I had a similiar thoughts come to mind before I got to your post - well said.

If you're going for overall you can't miss the early points and early value in premiums...
