Looking at going the 1 prem 3 rook ruck structure going into the season. Does anybody have any information regarding the likeliness of Derickx getting an early run? I understand Richmond have brought in ruckmen from other clubs and would like to know if this will prevent Tom from playing

bundyboy

Can't offer any news on that...

but got to say you are brave to be going that way.... !

Try rowe?

Yeah, I would think that Rowe will play more games than Derickx this year. I heard an interview with Betts and Gibbs and they were saying that Rowe and Luke Mitchell will probably play games.

I will only consider Derickx if he has a good NAB and he's named for round 1.

Try this article from Footy Tragic:

Relevant Paras:
"In the forward line, things were pretty interesting! Obviously without Jack Riewoldt, they structured up a bit differently, with Tyrone Vickery playing at centre half forward, Tom Derickx out of full forward, and Brad Miller playing as a floating third tall. Todd Elton substituted with Tyrone Vickery every few minutes, and he looked extremely impressive. If I were to hazard a guess here, I’d say when Jack Riewoldt is back, Miller would be the guy to move out.

Damien Hardwick likes to play three talls up forward, so at the moment I have Tom Derickx in my round one side. He had a horror 2011 with injuries after he was bookmarked to play much of the season as a mature age draftee. He’s now 24 years old, and has grown to 202cm, after being 195cm as an 18 year old. He moves extremely well for a big guy and he clunked some really great contested marks in the drills. If you look back at his NAB Cup performance last year against Collingwood, he showed some great contested marking ability in that match. Most importantly, I saw him take about ten set shots, and he didn’t miss one of them."

Surely Derrickx is behind the likes of Browne, Graham and Maric. Dont like his chances

Cicjose

i think he has more skill than Browne but Graham has improved and yeah Maric was recruited to be the number 1

jaer

18 DT points in the first 1/2 game, 12 in the second.

I havent seen the game so I cant really say how well he went

I am still open to suggestions for my 4th ruck by the way.

I would reccommend the player of this thread.

Yeah currently Redden, Derickx and Rowe have rotated through this position.

Derrickx, he will mostly play.

Memphistopheles

I think i've said this somewhere else on the site in another thread but I'll line up an interview with Tom before the season starts and post a link to fanfooty.

I'm a journo at his former hometown newspaper.

A previous interview with him indicated that he will play mainly as a forward who will chop out in the ruck.

So you have to ask yourself - will he get gametime in the Tigers forward line.
