Essendon used its fifth selection to recruit mature age midfielder Brendan Lee from the East Perth Football Club.

“Brendan won the best and fairest award for his club this year and is a player that had over 500 possessions in the WAFL this season alone,” Dodoro said.

“He is a player we believe can really step up and is ready to go and we’d hope he can play senior level football next year.”

With the club’s third selection, Essendon took mature age defender Mark Baguley from Frankston and Dodoro said the club was attracted to his impressive combination of speed and agility.

“Mark Baguley is a 24-year-old from Frankston who plays as a small defender. He reads the game extremely well and kicks the ball very well,” Dodoro said.

“Mark has great speed and agility so we’re really looking forward to welcoming him to the club.”

Dodoro said Dell’Olio’s dangerous goal kicking abilities would benefit the Bombers’ forward line.

“Corey Dell’Olio is a small forward from South Fremantle and he is an impressive goal sneak,” he said.

“He kicked 57 goals in his senior side for South Fremantle this year and is a player we believe can step up to senior football in the future.”

Pt Adel has placed Cameron Hitchcock on the long-term injury list. As a reminder, a player must be placed at least 8 weeks before returning.

Hoping it's Baguely and Lee for some cheaper rookie options.

Im an Essendon supporter and i believe it will be those two, if your a bit bored here is a 7 min video of highlights from all our rookies http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RumaddaAvM0

I think it will be Lee and Dell'Olio. Their skills seem to be better than Baguley's and I would rather have Dell in the forward line than Davey. I'm not sure how Bags would get a game ahead of Hardingham, Hibberd, McVeigh, Dempsey, Heppell, Browne and Myers. But then, Lee also may need an injury to get into the side.

Lee is the more DT-relevant of the three. If he gets games then jump on board.

That Dalgleish looks like an absolute jet. I Smith all over again.

I dunno a DPP fella would be handy so Baguley stuck out as one... Lee is certain to be upgraded I would have thought. A little more mature and lets face it. After Watson and Stants (and maybe zaha but he is more a HFF) the Bombers midfield falls away quickly.

I reckon Lee definitely .. dunno after that
