pretty good,, i see you've gone with the 5th keeper in the midfield to make up for the weaker ruck which is good ,though you may miss out on a good rookie cash cow. in saying that giles will probably make some decent coin so no major dramas

sure have. my reasoning to this is because Im unsure on what premo 2nd ruckman to choose... McEvoy, Berger, Goldstein, McIntosh, Jacobs etc. Its tricky to choose who will take it to the next level and effectively is an educated guess.

At least with having an extra midfielder... Selwood, Rocky etc, I know what I'm going to get. Once the season begins and a premo ruckman stands out, I will look to trade them in

sounds like a plan....   out of them rucks u mentioned i would take bergers, with jacobs as a value pick
remember barlow isnt a guarentee to get the numbers u may be hoping for,but i understand his price is too juicy not to consider

Have been thinking about byes... and am thinking of doing:

Rockliff > Murphy
Barlow > Miles

Therefore in Round 12 I can trade the likes of McDonald > rookie & Shiel > Rockliff.
And eventually get Swan in as my final mid spot, leaving me with a final midfield of:

Swan, Pendlebury, Ablett, Rockliff, Selwood, Murphy

Essentially, i have used 4 trades rather than 2 but have Murphy in instead of Barlow.

Is this a waste of 2 trades to lessen the blow of byes? Especially since ranking is not my priority, but rather my league performance

if its league you are going for than byes really dont matter,,just pick the team u want and damn the byes,, with barlow there is also the option of starting with him and upgrading him  come finals time,  save all ya trades(dont worry about the byes)  and use em up in the few weeks leading into the finals,, remember theres no difference between 1st and 4th, so u only have to win maybe 11-12 games out of 17 for top 4
