I haven't really selected my team that will negotiate the byes as best as possible. To be honest I have tried and just gotten a headache lol.

I have seen people suggesting going the 8/11/11 set up. But have seen other ideas suggested. I've come to the conclusion of picking the strongest possible team I can, and worry about byes leading up to them.

I don't want to throw out the balance of my team for the sake of the byes, but chances are i'll have to try nut it out a lot better then what I have now.

I'd like to get a general idea on what to others are doing in regards of the byes. Are you setting your team up ready for them? Or just going for maximun output for the first 10 rounds and try work your way around byes when they come?

Thanks for your thoughts guys.

I cbf trying. Just get who you think will be the top 7 backs, 6 mids, 2 rucks, and 7 forwards at the end of the season.

elephants

Yeah just get through them with the least amount of donuts ;D

matt1985

That's my aim LE. Would love to go for overall, but i'm not smart enough to work out the best solution to get around these bloody byes! As long as I don't cop a crazy amount of donuts i'll be happy!

Just pick what you think is the best team to start the year. It's a waste of time picking certain bye structures at the start of the year because rookies are going to come and go leading up to the bye. I'd starting worrying about your bye structure around Rnd.8 as you'll have a better idea of who you want to keep and who you want to offload.

I thought about 10 players from each bye round from any club = 30 players it's pretty simple

Then after round 11 upgrade your rd11 rookies to rd11 prems and do the same after round 12 i did make a post doing this think it was called 'a team to cope with the byes' in rate my team in supercoach would be on second or 3rd page now though

Thanks Kilbluff, i'll go take a look. But I don't want to compromise on rookies just to suit the byes. I guess it makes sense with what your saying, but I don't like the thought of possibly loosing out on money, cause I had to get a sub par rook to suit the byes.

Given that at least 50% of your rookies, in a GNR strat are GWS players you can't start the game giving a shower about the bye.
Pick the team that will give you the best outcome rounds 1 - 7 and then start to plan for the 3 bye rounds.

Check the bye threads in supercoach strategy Ringo and I have both gone into it in a fair bit of deatail in those threads.

Bottom line tho there are two factors 1 = pick the team of players you think will score best.

2 = minimise the donuts you will score over the bye rounds

Get 1 or 2 wrong and you will not have a good season in relations to players who get it right :)

1 thing is certain tho at teh start of round 11 idealy you are 8-11-11

round 12 trade to be 11-8-11 (still get a donut (ruck) )

round 12 trade to be ?-?-8 (still get a donut (ruck) )

I dont think you can avoid 2 donuts in the ruck as it is mathamatically impossible without dpp rucks.

as i said lots for information on the 2 threads on bye stragtey in supercoach strategy.

When looking at the bye structure the only thing you need to worry about is your Premis.

They will still be there in R11-13 (baring injury or stupidity) you rookies might not.

So as long as you limit the amount of premis that have a bye in each round for each position you will be fine.
In other words if you have 6 back, forward or mid premis make sure that you have 2 with the bye in R11, 2 in R12 and 2 in R13

PowerBug

DPP rucks: Roughead (Hawks), Pattison, Lycett and Rowe as cheaper DPP.

Thanks for all your input guys! Will go sort out my team now!

+1 that pretty much sums it up :)

barrrr if your not in the top 2000 by that stage i wouldn't worry about the byes! just drop a league game and win the rest, dont think it will be the dif to top 8 or not
