With 5 rounds to go in season 2009, interested in people's thoughts on whether they will choose Gary Ablett for season 2010;  ::) Interested in views from people WITH and WITHOUT the little master this year.

Chances are his average will end up higher this year than in 2008 so he may cost in the $750k bracket next year. There might be a few other blokes getting around with Gazza-esque prices too (ie Swan , Montagna).

The Guy is a freak, im not sure how you can justify not having him

Have not had him and finished top in a very competetive work league but am jealous every time he kills it, happy when he has not played. I have had Swan and Judd all year so has been some compensation, selwood now matching scores as well.Had always planned to get him but now injuries may have denyed me. Higgins, Adcock, Cox.

I have found most I have played who had him were brought undone forward or back where they were weak and for instance 2 rookies instead of one holding down the No. 7 spot.

I dont know if he is a lock next year or not yet, will depend on the rookie quality I guess as to how many you put in

I have him this year but I will not get him next year. His price is just such a  hole especially when he is out. If he comes below 700k next year which I doubt I will snap him up. I find the points he scores can be made up by other players with the money I save by not getting him

Why would you definitely not get him at $750K but then get him at $690K  ???

This is the talk that went on at the start of the season and then by round 8 everyone who didn't have him were scrambling to make up the disadvantage.

He's a lock I reckon.  He averages 25 more than the next best player so that's an extra 50 points per week.  He also takes the perma-captain advantage.  Look at happened last weekend when people went with ROK.

He's a lock for me as he was this year.  If you can't find $50K somewhere else then you're not doing it right.

the money!! the amound of 0 he scored for me in the last 2 years not next year for me. there are others that are way cheaper with averages just as good and more consistant. Too soft. he get looked after too much. over rated his father was a freak player, the best ive seen.

Queenslander

if i dont get him at the start i wont worry about getting him, cos it'll take 3 trades to get him in, and you'd miss out on a lot of his scores by mid season. had him this year, looks likely next

Who?

Lock him in & build your side around him

Cool9

Poll results so far suggest Gaz was money well spent this year

nas

Well look at how many people said they want him / will wait for his price to go down then get him / the injury he had & people traded him out / the trades to put him in your side mostly 2 or even 1 & a lot of cash / & the people that have him have been very content with his scores for the year so far.
Me I'm glad i had him from day Dot. IMHO

tony73

Yes but if you traded an Otten and a Rich, Ablett would cost you 2 trades and the starting price of the 2 rookies (less than 300k) who have scored well enough themselves getting to their peak!

ando10

anyday of the week gaz is a certainty in my side.

Hondo I dont have the stats that I had at the start of the year too many people dont facter in his 5 donuts he scored thats 5 weeks 0 his average says 125 or so thats not right its far less and price stays high over this period .when it comes to dream team and s.c dont you think this need to be a factor?

Hondo71

Yes, durability is a factor.  He's only missed 3 weeks this year IIRC?

I personally wouldn't overlook a player who averages 25 more than anyone else because I think he could miss a few weeks.  Anyone we pick could miss a few weeks.

If he's $800K next year I would reconsider whether he was worth it.  But any price < $750K i'd lock him in.
