guns and rookies is obviously the most used supercoach strategy, but im wondering what do people define as a gun?

is it based on price, potential scoring ability, or whether you intend them to be in your final supercoach side at the end of the year (injury permitting)

Ziplock

mmm, going to sound stupid, but all 3?

TheMailman

Yeah you pretty much just named them all

zaharaharakis

then would you consider jonathon brown and jack grimes as guns? if they have both fit year they no doubt have the ability to be in the top 10 scorers for there respective positions. but their prices would indicate that they are part of the mid-pricers strategy

TheMailman

#4
No, their prices indicate the bargain "gun" status.

They're not mid pricers who you expect to increase, they're previous guns that you expect to remain uninjured

Edit: Terrible English there  :P

Ziplock

ehhhh I would consider brown an undervalued gun. As for grimes, he has the potential, but because of injury he's never attained premo status :P

Brown isnt a gun right now, guns also require the price tag. There is usually a reason they arent worth what they were or should be, but right now there are plenty of question marks over them.
Brown will be a gun come year end though, so dont miss out.

I disagree that the price makes a player a gun.

If Swan did his knee in round one and scored 20 for the season, he'd still be a gun the next year regardless of his price tag.

There would obviously be some concerns over him the next year, but there were over Ablett last season and everyone still referred to him as a gun.

I'd suggest guns are players who you expect to be in the top seven scorers in their position (obviously top two for rucks) by the end of the season.

if swanny did his knee [touch wood heaven forbid] i wonder how many people would still have him in their starting line up

next season ?? would he still be called a gun?

if Swanny was priced as Lenny is this season (all other things being equal), i'd put $20 down to say that every man and his dog would have him in their starting 2013 team ...

i'd have to say that the gun is priced based. Browny needs a good couple of games under his belt i think till he is back as a gun

SC is all about points and it's the "guns" that score the most. In my humble opinion price is totally irrelevant. Case in question, I would rate M Barlow as a gun in his first season for Freo, and his starting price was roughly about 112k.

But would you have rated him a gun when he was 112k?  ???

Mailman has a good point, I think price is a factor when determining who is a gun or not
