I can see how you would get confused   :P

Honestly, i cant find a guaranteed spot for Mitchell. I think he will be part of a rotation of players such as Lamb, Parker, Bird, Lockyer, Jetta and TDL. A lot depends on the preseason but Horse like Roos before him believes in players earning a spot, rather than being handed a jumper.

Fair point, guess I have to put faith into Mitchell's gunnage in his pre-AFL days... Fingers crossed!

My Chumps

Pretty good crack at the team, I agree with the others who have said the backline is the problem.

Alex Johnson is a lock in the backline along with Nick Smith and Shaw, Grundy defn at CHB. LRT more likely on the bench as the ruck cover. Eski is going to struggle for a game, maybe make the bench. I agree that Armstrong is a pretty good chance, but on the bench.
Centre line looks spot on, along with the fwd line. Goodes is pretty traditionally named at CHF then floats wherever he wants anyway, as a tactic to upset the defensive structure of the opposition.
Gary Rohan is missing from the team and he is a lock.
Lamb, Morton, Jetta are all fighting for a spot, but people you have also missed that are in front of them are Craig Bird and Matt Spangher, a lot will depend on the preseason form on these last spots.

Here is my attempt -

Backs          Smith Richards Mattner

H.Back        Johnson Grundy Rohan

Centre         Hannebery Kennedy Bolton

H.Fwd         Okeefe Goodes Jetta

Fwd            Walsh Reid McGlynn

Foll             Mumford McVeigh Jack

Int              Armstrong LRT Bird Spangher(sub)
I'm finding this team heaps more likely... Twas a fair crack though Nicko  :)

I agree with most lines here Syd, but am finding Rohan playing off a HBF extremely unlikely, unless you have some inside knowledge?
I also think that with the addition of Walsh as another tall forward, Spangher won't make the team. Parker should take his spot in the subs vest IMO.
LRT in our 22 worries me, the man's a spud but he's our only ruck cover that can play elsewhere, so I guess he has to stay on the pine.
And although you said that Shaw was a lock in defense, he isn't in your team? Perhaps a typo  ;)
Should slip in where Rohan is playing, then Jetta drops back to the reserves with Rohan taking his spot on a HFF... Jetta just needs some confidence and muscle.
As for Mitchell, it is hard to find him a spot in the team... Maybe swap with Bird or Armstrong? Time will tell.
A pretty strong team IMO, hopefully we push for 6 - 4th this year  :P

We'll all go down together!

and the real hard part will be sydney preseason game time/scores wont mean he makes round 1 either!!
Horse is likely just to throw a whole bunch of kids in to give the older guys a gentle start

Artax

Would never have Jetta in the 22, especially over a Parker or Mitchell.

I think the reason Rohan and Jetta have had the preferential run is that they provide the x factor. Parker and Mitchell are modelled on the Bolton/Kirk mould

Artax

Rohan backs it up a lot more than Jetta does though. Don't get me wrong he brings alot to a game but just far too inconsistent
