Nicko's Prediction of Sydney's starting team

FB           N.Malceski             T.Richards                   H.Grundy

H/B         T.Armstrong                 L.R.Thompson            M.Mattner

C             D.Hannebery                J.P.Kennedy           K.Jack

H/F          J.Lamb              A.Goodes                   R.O’Keefe

FF           B.McGlynn              S.Reid              T.Walsh

R             S.Mumford, J.McVeigh, J.Bolton.

I/C          R.Shaw, T.Mitchell, M.Morton, L.Jetta (sub)

EMG:     J.Lockyer, L.Parker, J.White

had a real fascination with Sydney since I've read the prospectus, i think J.Lamb will land himself a spot on the H/F flank and T.Mitchell deserves a spot in there (star), I push goodes up to the H/f cause there's a lot of fresh midfield blood coming through and I think goodesy will show the way up forward, considering the swans forward line has been the weak spot in previous years.

Another good crack nicko. I like this one even more then GWS. I think you've got the nail on the head with the midfield/forward, maybe i would tweak the backline a tad, but besides that very good write up! If this is a new thing do Richmond next.

110% agreed. He is a fantasy star, and will be one of the best midfielders going around in a few years with D.Shiel, only concern is  will Longmire give rookies a run through the midfield. I think so because he gave Rohan, Jetta and Parker a chance and I rate Mitchell a fair bit higher then all three of those blokes

nichsa673

i think you could nearly put goodes in the midfield because of the addition of walsh to the team, and maybe Jude Bolton at half forward.

I'd replace Jetta with Alex Johnson. Jetta (whilst being exciting) hasn't been able to prove himself to be consistent enough to warrant a spot in the 22. Remember when he kicked his first goal?

I see your point but the swans need a leader in the forward line. Since the departure of Hall and O'Lough, they have struggled for a consistent goal kicker. Now that Goodesey's getting older he could really provide that considering Jesse White hasnt shown much, and S.Reid isnt ready to carry a forward line, on top of that Bolton is a hard as nuts player who really is a model for the youngsters too be, not saying that goodes isn't, but his leadership would be better used in the forward line.

Pretty good crack at the team, I agree with the others who have said the backline is the problem.

Alex Johnson is a lock in the backline along with Nick Smith and Shaw, Grundy defn at CHB. LRT more likely on the bench as the ruck cover. Eski is going to struggle for a game, maybe make the bench. I agree that Armstrong is a pretty good chance, but on the bench.
Centre line looks spot on, along with the fwd line. Goodes is pretty traditionally named at CHF then floats wherever he wants anyway, as a tactic to upset the defensive structure of the opposition.
Gary Rohan is missing from the team and he is a lock.
Lamb, Morton, Jetta are all fighting for a spot, but people you have also missed that are in front of them are Craig Bird and Matt Spangher, a lot will depend on the preseason form on these last spots.

Here is my attempt -

Backs          Smith Richards Mattner

H.Back        Johnson Grundy Rohan

Centre         Hannebery Kennedy Bolton

H.Fwd         Okeefe Goodes Jetta

Fwd            Walsh Reid McGlynn

Foll             Mumford McVeigh Jack

Int              Armstrong LRT Bird Spangher(sub)
