If Boomer is going to give it up, which he may or may not, the only real options are Petrie or Swallow. IMO Ziebell is still a chance, and will be captain some time down the road, but 21 is just too young I think.

Swallow has been groomed to be a future captain for quite a while, so I think it should be him. Good age so he should get quite a few years in the role (assuming he does well) but he's not too young.

Petrie has been a bit unlucky I think. Had Boomer not been at the club, he would have been captain for years. He certainly has the leadership abilities, but if he does become captain Swallow might miss his chance as when Petrie retires Ziebell would be at the ripe age.

ponting was underperforming and letting the team down.

Bad analogy lol.

Well I suppose in that aspect..although when Ponting gave up that extra pressure of captaincy it helped his game a lot, so if the same happens with Boomer :o Look out!!!! :o :o

I would like to see Boomer capt. for 1 more year, but if not, i'd give Swallow a go. Just gotta hope it doesn't effect his game. I personally think he could handle it

Decision to be made this Friday at noon.

Personally, I actually think there's one player that hasn't been mentioned that should be heavily considered.

Leigh 'Patch' Adams. ;D

He's got a good head on the field, and he also captained Vic Metro in the U/18s. He's got great leadership skills, which are already known to the club. Very surprised he hasn't been mentioned actually.  ???

Though I do think they will go with Swallow. If Boomer is stepping down so he can 'hand the reigns' to a younger suitor, then Swallow would be the best person for the job, followed closely by Adams.
