Really tossing up on these two

Fyfe  and Zaharias or side bum

Beams and. ??

Already have martin brown Christensen

No extra cash available

Dont want clocked yet , not sold on Franklin early yet

dmac07

Fyfe and zaha for sure. Beams and sidebutt are nearly as good players but they have so much more to compete with for midfield time. Fyfe will be part of the top three for mid time with barlow and mundy. And zaha probably second to only kobe at the bombers.

TheMailman

Yeah there is no doubt about the midfield time Fyfe and Zaharakis should get. With Beams and Sidebottom obviously Collingwood wants to keep the centreline competitive.

i'd take beams or sidey over fyfe or zaharakis tbh espeically given fyfes interrupted preseason and zaharakis's knee problems or whatever

i actually think beams will dominate this year, is an absolute class act and if bucks has any clue will stick him in the guts all year where he is a goal kicking ball magnet

valkorum

I dont think Fyfe will be as dominant this year as he was last year (for a number of reasons).

1) He has to compete with other midfielders (Barlow, Mundy etc)
2) He has had an interrupted pre-season with shoulder surgery and groin surgery (still isnt back to full training)
3) Opposition know who he is and will prob have a better defender on him at times.

TheMailman

Well I know for certain that Beams and Sidebottom are competing against each other to win midfield positions.

Put in Fasolo,Didak, Wellingham, Johnson, Macaffer and Blair along with the regulars in Swan Pendlebury Ball Thomas etc. Fyfe and Zaha put up a bigger case IMO

Definitely good reasoning for waiting and including him as an upgrade target.

He is one of the most expensive players and isn't likely to improve massively.  With so many interesting midpricers, it's worth waiting.

TheMailman

I take the reasoning that you could be missing out on another great season.

Remember he will definately be a popular addition to teams and it will cost you many points when he fires up

Does anyone have any idea when Fyfe will return to full training?

Apparently he was on the training track today.  Trained with the main group for a good portion then finished off with running laps.

Ok then thanks heaps for that, reckon he will be fit for the start of the season?

He has a good fitness base to start with so should be ok.  Cos he is still new you dont know how he will handle it (eg.  Goodes starts slow and builds)

Yeah being young it shouldn't effect him as much as it would older players. Yeah good point about Goodes, that's the main reason he isn't in my team now and will be an upgrade target.

Like many I think I am having to choose two of Beams, Fyfe, Zaharakis and Sidebottom. To be honest they are all probably going to be in the top 7-8 premiums at the end of the year and all this thinking is pointless, but then again, that is what DT is all about.

At the moment I have Beams and Sidebottom purely because of the injury problems for the other two. The worries over the midfield time for the collingwood pair are pretty unfounded as the amount of time for them both can only improve yet Beams especially was still able to score at a premium standard. There have also been many reports that Sidebottom will be given a significantly larger amount of time in the midfield this year.

Then again, Fyfe managed to be a top-5 premium in his second year and Zaharakis managed to score well despite the tendinitis that is supposed to be plaguing him. And here we are back at square-one
