Which Ruck Strategy

As a number have said there seems to be a fair bit of discussion on ruck structure this year,

Thought I would put up a poll amongst our m4embers to gauge opinion.  Only need to comment if you wish but please vote

I'm waiting for pre season but i pretty i'm going with 3 rookies Giles, Stephenson, Rowe and by doing this i can afford to have Heppell as my 5th defender and Buntine as my 6th.

Worth noting Mumford is my prem ruck

My rucks at the moment in rate my team are leunberger, west, Giles and orren. But thinking of the 3 rookies instead. Also had a look at a midfield of only ablett and swan as prems, with the rest the best rookies. Giving me pretty much 6 locks in my backs and forwards. And only needing 6-7 upgrades.

I agree - Premium such as  - Cox/Sandi/Mummy + either a Mid Pricer as in Kruz/Hmac.  Stephenson,Giles or Rowe as bench coverage.

Just a comment on Stephenson and the other Geelong ruck options; Simpson has just had back surgery and will miss the whole pre-season,  Vardy has had hip surgery and may miss round 1 in fact West seems to be the only ruckman whose played an AFL game that is fit at the moment. Also Pods has a shoulder injury and may miss round 1.

I guess that means Stephenson will get early games in the ruck with West playing at CHF (as Geelong's only tall forward option except for Hawkins).

The big question is when Vardy and Simpson come back where does Stephenson fit in? I think he doesn't and is just emergency as Geelong know their tall options are all injured at the moment.

I think out of Stephenson, Giles and Rowe only Giles is at all likely to get regular games so to go into 2012 SC with all 3 of those rookies is far too risky.

I Dont Believe Geelong would draft a 29 Year Old to play seconds football. Their recruiting staff is too smart as proven by their dominance to be paying a player that isn't going to play, they must have some plan for him.

Currently I have: Mumford, McEvoy, Giles and Stephenson, which gives me two fairly durable 90+ ave rucks plus Giles and Stephenson, who can hopefully cover in the bye rounds.

You have to be brave to go in with Rowe, Giles and Stephenson. But maybe it will work out. The NAB Cup should clear things up a bit.

I dont know whether to pick west or not, who is actually gonna pick him and why/why not? I thought i heard somewhere, in november i think, that he got injured, but i cant find any evidence of that.

For sc this year I am going 2 prem 2 rookie, Something like Mummy Berger Giles Stephenson

DT I might end up taking more of a risk and run with Rowe giles Stephenson and Sandi

2 premium 2 rook for me, it all came down to kahoolies for me, i had 1 premium hmac and 2 rooks for ages, then eventually lost my nerve and went 2 and 2. good luck to the guys brave enough to go 1 premo 1 mid price 2 rooks, and god help the guys who go 1 premo 3 rooks, as for the few ive seen going 1 midpriced 3 rooks, well nevermind  ::)

Giles, Stephensen are the obvious ones, then you have to pick 2 of redden, rowe, jenkins, gorringe
