You can also add change of kicking action :D

There are a lot of great athletes across different sports, that have never returned back to their best due to poor management or simply wear and tear.

The reality is that the shelf life of an athlete is short, and the effects wear and tear can take on you both physically and psychologically should not be underestimated.  There are always exceptions like Goodes & Harvey who are still going strong.

Having 1 or 2 fallen premiums in your team is not the worst idea because at least you know they have a history of scoring.  However, you also need to be careful about not getting too attached with your assets.  Knowing when to cut your losses is just as important as picking them.  Luck will also play a huge part.

My practical advice, is that you should simply back your gut, but also have a fall back plan in place.  Finally, team balance will also be important, so that you don't waste too many trades on corrections rather than upgrades.

Kuruki

I have not got him in my side at the moment, but i think he will be a keeper easy this year.
Lenny Hayes is back. Drama's are over. New Coach. Questioned being asked about his captaincy. N Roo is a champ, noway is he going out like this. Good early draw, Nick will go BOOM.

Good example, of a champion of the game where wear and tear has taken its toll.

Scaring people off so I can have Nroo to myself :)

Obese Arachnid

I understand why ppl are writing him off but he's in my team ATM.

Ross Lyon gone has alleviated some of my concerns. His negative style of football cruels some players. I think Nick has suffered badly due to this. Pre season form/tactics/setup will obviously be the decider but ATM I'm more willing to consider some Saints & have dropped off Freo players, ATM, which i usually have a few of.

On that basis you might want to stay away from Pav!

Purple 77

Not for me, but a good nab cup and rounds 1 & 2 will see him in my team

i wont even given him 2 thoughts, he just looked too proppy to me!

With his body shape i don't think you get better with age, his best is past him and would be shocked if he came back better than ever.

His price is right for were hes at

definately agree, however with hayes coming back and mcevoy shining he may get more of the ball?

Colliwobblers

Not for me at this stage and even with a good nab cup its hard to take him, hard due to all the great value mid/fwd players available in the fwd line this year, the upside tho for st nick is the apparant return to fitness and form of kozi, hayes return and mcevoys rise, all add up to better results for nroo, so taking him might be a really good call.

anyone gonna be taking nicky riewoldt this year i think he has put his troubles behind

what are your thoughts?

fivestarmd

Sure am. Due for a big year. Driving for that premiership

ronl

There are a lot of queries surrounding the Saints and I really can't see them improving their position this year, in addition,I think we have already seen the best of Nick Riewoldt.  Hope I'm wrong, but I won't be having him.

Torress

i can't be bothered looking at him but how old is roo now??

i'm not even considering this guy, can't see him averaging over 100 ever again. might lose the captaincy this season??? anyone?? lol

bjrouse

At the price he is worth a look.
I would personally take him at 472K over some 2nd or 3rd year kid in the 400k zone

i think so too, he needs to take a leaf out of punter's book. no GOD will be a bomber next season!!! lol

i think his knee(s) are gone. heard he limped off training once or twice from reading the tooserious training reports. the game has changed i can't see him playing like Pav. the modern game gives him no space to work his man over. sounds like a degenerative knee condition as well - could miss patches because of it like joel corey and his knee issues. i learned my lesson from last year, a no for me.
