Thanks for the comment Piccollo, that definitely makes sense and I have now created a team with a 3 prem, 3 rookie midfield:

BACKS: Goddard (MID), Deledio (MID), H Shaw, Heppell, Lake, Tomlinson (FWD), Mohr (Spurr, Morris)

MIDS: Ablett, Swan, J Selwood, Clifton, Pfeiffer (FWD), Shiel (L Brown (MID), J McDonald)

RUCKS: Mumford, Leuenberger (Giles, Stephenson)

FORWARDS: Franklin, Pavlich (MID), D Martin (MID), T Cloke, J Brown, Smedts (FWD), Treloar (MID) (Walsh, Zorko (MID))

$22,800 left

What do you all think of this approach and team?
great team! tomlinson is a waste of 50,000 though i think. mabye get hampton instead. then u can upgrade heppel or someone.

Thanks mate. Tomlinson's in there for DPP. Can't see any other rookies with DEF/FWD getting a game straight away apart from Smedts whom I already have in my fwd line.

Really good team there.

Im sure alot of people have already said watch out for Heppell because of the 2nd year blues. but if you have faith he is worth a punt.

also not to sure about having 3 key fowards in the forward line as key fowards can have off weeks if they arent getting the delivery from the midfield. But then again with roughy back for Hawks he will prob play out of FF which could release Buddy up the ground a bit more.

With the price of the premium players this year you have a very well balanced side. Nice Work

MIDS: Ablett, Swan, Dal Santo, J Selwood, Zorko (FWD), Shiel (Miles, L Brown (DEF))

RUCKS: Mumford, Leuenberger (Giles, Stephenson)

FWDS: Franklin, Chapman (MID), Zaharakis (MID), J Brown, Hampton (MID) Smedts (DEF), Walsh (Kerridge (MID), Dickson)

I have taken teams early fixtures into consideration and that's why you won't find any Dockers or Tigers prems in this team to begin with due to their tough early draws against last years finalists.

No more than 2 prems per bye round per line in an attempt to combat the dreaded donut.

Only real risk in the team is Lake and if he doesn't line up for round 1 then I will need to change my team completely.

Hoping J Brown can get back to near his best following a full pre-season and pump out plenty of 100 + scores.

Heppell and Zaharakis are the two players that I think will have breakout years and average around the 100 mark.

Forwards are a little weak but there will always be one area that is weak. Martin will be my first upgrade at the start of round 10 once the Tigers horror draw for the start of the season ends.

Thoughts?

Forwards are a little weak but there will always be one area that is weak. Martin will be my first upgrade at the start of round 10 once the Tigers horror draw for the start of the season ends. Agree am doing the same

Thoughts?

Lake too M Clarke if Lake doesn't come on

i would replace one of your rookie fwds with Zorko and get another mid rookie in the centre.... later down the track when you trade out one of those mid rookies move Zorko back there and trade in another fwd, that way you still have the link before the byes
