In my mids atm, expecting big things from him in 2012 where (who would have thought) he is probably going to be fairly unique.

May not be a bad idea with team structure in mind to have Gibbs, just been doing a bit of reading and the Blues are suggesting he will play more mid/fwd this year and is flying on the track pre-season. With Judds shoulder issues and rumours of him possibly being out till May Gibbs could be the unique people are searching for with loads jumping off due to him loosing his Defender status.
I may have to start rethinking a few things.

I don't think many people that are serious with their teams would pick Gibbs. Quality player, but no longer a lock seeing as he ain't a back anymore.

But I seriously don't think Martin is a FWD/Mid. I think that's a bit cheap........But I won't complain.  ;D

Its rare but i strongly disagree with you on this one Windigo but he did average 122 from his last 8 and all reports from Carlton say he is flying. If he can lift to a 115 average would be a great pick.

Im seriously considering going Ablett, Gibbs, Selwood, Barlow

But you won't know that for certain not until a few games into the season.

Then you'll be wishing you had Swan....Or maybe you'll be telling everyone that Gibbs was the way to go when he is pumping out the 110+ on a consistent basis.

But there are so many Midfielders that are already at that level. Rocky, Pendles etc.

But in the saying that....I'm getting Redden.  ::)

Atleast this year we'll be back to starting in round 3 so we'll get a couple of games of the real stuff to have a look at him and see whats happening.

browny_wce

just because Gibbs has been listed as a MID in DT doesnt mean that Ratten will stop using him as a tagger in certain games or get him playing off the half backline, Dream Team has screwed us again and gotten rid of another star out of regualr teams, much like Hodgey from 2010 to last year

Matty411

With more midfield opportunities to come this year along with his coming of age in the AFL (and DT) I truly believe he will come out and avg 110+

A lot of ppl won't pick him as there are so many amazing mids to choose from. I personally am a little biased and love Gibbsy so he will be lining up for team McRath in 2012 DPP or not

Yeh i dont doubt that at some stages Ratten will use him that way during 2012, still racks up tons though doing it. With Laidler and Duigan coming on pretty well and Yarran hopefully this doesnt occur to often for those that are willing to take a punt.

yeah can't believe the hype on gibbs this preseason from ratts, judd and now their mid coach

i really can't see him being a bad pick at all this year like some people seem to be saying... he is the epitome of a dream team slut and if he does get the mid/fwd role that everyone is saying (and he was played like that in the back half of last season), he could blitz a mammoth average this year

he was in my first couple fanplanners, slipped out in favor of shiels, but could definitely slip back in by seasons start

Holz

i think virtual sports took him out of the defense postion because they knew he could average 115+ this year

egosbar

He will still tag , the rest of the time he will be good, plenty of premium mids take your pick they all should average 110  or more if your lucky

Honestly I really can't split the top ten mids by too much and Gibbs is in the top ten , it's good he's not a back because he won't be in everyone's side ,

goddard and lids will be in basically every good side, i guess its good not all 3 are i guess. Not sure why the pumped the foroward line with soo many F/M though, gibbs should have got F/M status over half of them.

egosbar

yeah i agree too many f/m options this year for my liking, just means most sides will be very similar again

This is what Warnie from DT Talk said about the multiple F/M options this year....

"Champion Data put players into position for their official stats of the game. VS replicate these, with no changes. CD don’t make positions with DT in mind. They base them on stats and % of stats where they get them."

I have recently made the call to drop Barlow and use my cash to get in an elite. After a bit of deliberation, I decided to go unique: Gibbs. Not only is he named after one of the most badass characters on tv, but he is expected to be a pure midfielder in 2012.

This is from a footy tragic article (www.footytragic.com  a great site!), albeit from a Carlton fanboy...

BRYCE GIBBS

In my opinion, Bryce is one player you need to lock in this season. I think he’s going to explode in a big way, possibly averaged upwards of 115 in Dream Team (big call, I know).

All the talk has been about how good he is looking, and a move to the midfield permanently is just what he needs.

He averaged 122 Dream Team points in the final eight games of the year in 2011, when he was freed up and used through the midfield and as a half forward where he is really dangerous and knows how to kick a goal or two.

Gibbs isn’t backline eligible anymore, but don’t let that deter you. Get…..him…..in!

Just to point out the facts from the bias:
He did average 122 in the last 8, enough to be in the top three point scorers in the AFL.
He is being hyped up by the midfield group, including the midfield coach and Juddy (who could mistrust Juddy?)
He is awesome! He broke the ton 13 times in 2011, including Six scores 120+, with a high score of 139, where he kicked four goals.
His low scores where he gets the tagging role (lowest score of 74), should be highly reduced or eliminated in a midfield role.

Gibbs is unique both in terms of DT and AFL. Once his DPP eligibility, which saw him as a back line lock, was eliminated, many coaches said no chance and never gave him and second look.
In terms of AFL, Gibbs is young (23-24) and a proven gun, something we dont see too much of.

Do what you will... for me, he's locked in. I expect an average between 115-125...
