Hey, its that time of year again, the time of year when we all make our first draft that will change 37 times before the season starts! But we are all obsessed so here is my first attempt, this is a bit of a skeleton squad, with money deliberately left over for changes. Will change/update as is needed.
If you take the time to have a look and comment I'm more than happy to return the favor and cast my eyes over your team.

My first draught, as below though, is

Dmac's Destroyers Fanplanner squad in the Super Coach competition coached by dmac0712. Salary cap left: $296,400.

Brendon Goddard, Brett Deledio, Heath Shaw, Jack Grimes, Brian Lake, Matthew Buntine, Marty Clarke
Sam Frost, Jacob Townsend

Gary Ablett jnr, Dane Swan, Jobe Watson, Stephen Coniglio, Anthony Morabito, Stephen Clifton
Anthony Miles, James McDonald

Todd Goldstein, Sam Jacobs
Orren Stephenson, Jarrod Witts

Lance Franklin, Dustin Martin, Travis Cloke, Alan Didak, Jason Winderlich, Israel Folau, Ahmed Saad
Levi Casboult, Tommy Walsh

Rookies subject to nab and being named, of course. A few too many collingwood players in this first draught perhaps, but will fine tune that.

Plenty of money left for two small or a big upgrade. Some of my thoughtts at the moment are;
Didak/Winderlich > Premium Forward (any)
Grimes/Lake > Premium Back (any)
Watson > Pendlebury
Coniglio > Barlow

Thoughts on what of those are options would be preferred? Or others thoughts on the team as a whole?

Thanks Guys

Hey Dmac

Gee man ur on the front foot with some of those comments - Watson>Pendles, not sure i can agree on the evidence over the last two years!

Pendles tackles more, kicks more goals and gets more touches averages more contested possessions and tackles  - also has proven himself to be far more durable having played most games in the last two years. Added to that  Penldes is only 24 scarily could improve again, Jobe 27 unlikely to exceed his current high standards and if he has what i believe now a dodgy hammy - well no way would i pick him ahead of Pendles!

Dids and Winders - may work out???? Hope they do although they represent far too much risk for me.

If those 15 "keepers" work out - well done. Still i have my reservations that all of Lake, Grimes Didak and Winders will work - more tha likely 2 may so your already having to trade on 2 - annoying from my experience.

I really like your rucks and 10 of your 11 premiums - Jobe is a hammy concern now!

Updated team* Changed Watson to murphy, didak to fyfe, and played around with the rookies.

TEAM NAME: Dmac's Destroyers
DEF: B. Goddard, B. Deledio, H. Shaw, J. Grimes, B. Lake, M. Buntine, M. Clarke (P. Bower, T. Mohr)
MID: G. Ablett jnr, D. Swan, M. Murphy, A. Morabito, S. Clifton, A. Miles (D. Zorko, J. McDonald)
RUC: T. Goldstein, S. Jacobs (O. Stephenson, J. Witts)
FWD: L. Franklin, N. Fyfe, D. Martin, T. Cloke, J. Winderlich, A. Saad, B. Smedts (A. Treloar, T. Walsh)
CASH LEFT: $33,400

Is grimes, lake, buntine and clarke too risky in the backs you think?

Ringo

I have reservations on the risk of Grimes, Lake and Clarke.  Will Clarke make Pies 22 and at that awkward price represents a risk especially if he does not play. Grimes/Lake both coming off injury. Do not mind a 5 prem 2 rookie structure for backs so maybe downgrade one to another rokkie.
With cash saved would look at upgrading Morabito in mids to a prem as i do not see him as M4 for yourself.
Rucks Great I doubt if Witts will play first up but it may pay you to go with Giles and then downgrade to a playing Ruck prior to Round 11 to make cash.
Forwards only slight concern but Winders may pay off,

rate this Team 8/10

TEAM NAME: Dmac's Destroyers
DEF: B. Goddard, B. Deledio, H. Shaw, G. Birchall, M. Clarke, P. Bower, S. Frost (B. Ellis, T. Mohr)
MID: G. Ablett jnr, D. Swan, M. Murphy, S. Docherty, S. Clifton, A. Miles (D. Zorko, J. McDonald)
RUC: T. Goldstein, S. Mumford (O. Stephenson, J. Giles)
FWD: L. Franklin, N. Fyfe, D. Martin, T. Cloke, J. Winderlich, A. Saad, B. Smedts (A. Treloar, T. Walsh)
CASH LEFT: $29,900

Slight Rehash, Grimes & Lake > Birchall & Frost. Morabito to Docherty (gives mpp to backs as well). Jacobs > Mumford who I have more confidence in. Witts > Giles.

Leaves me with Winderlich as only player between 170k and 500k, so very much going a prem & rookie structure, but I've always like that structure anyway. Haven't worried too much about the byes yet, do you think it's right to plan for byes from R1 and put a big emphasis on them? I'm not sold either way yet.

Ringo

Like this Team 9/10 13 Definite Keepers

Just a few extra comments Docherty Doubtful for Round 1 so look how Luke Brown performs dfor Adelaide as he will also give you the DPP Link. Noy sure whether Clarke will be in Pies best 22 but just personal opinion.

As with all teams assess rookies during NAB cup and whether named in Round 1.

Would not worry about byes from Round 1 as it will do you head in wait and assess closer to the bye rounds as from my investigations may be better to cop a couple of donuts and maintain a strong team rather than trade for the sake of the byes and then have to retrade back in wasting trades.  Not saying do not trade but if trading always make sure it is for the betterment of your team not to avoid donuts.

Hey guys, this is my second attempt at a preseason team.

TEAM NAME: Dmac's Destroyers
DEF: B. Goddard, B. Deledio, H. Shaw, B. Lake, M. Clarke, P. Bower, S. Frost (B. Ellis, T. Mohr)
MID: G. Ablett jnr, D. Swan, M. Murphy, S. Docherty, S. Clifton, A. Miles (D. Zorko, J. McDonald)
RUC: S. Mumford, A. Sandilands (J. Giles, O. Stephenson)
FWD: L. Franklin, N. Fyfe, C. Rioli, D. Martin, T. Cloke, A. Saad, B. Smedts (A. Treloar, T. Walsh)
CASH LEFT: $7,700

Obviously gone a very heavy prem/rook strategy. Everyone pretty much picked to either make money, or because I think they will be in the top scorers for their position for the year. Any feedback, constructive criticism would be great. Underlined players are all on watch list for injury/preseason form/selection.

First of all, how is Dylan Shiel not in that team? I'd take out McDonald or Docherty and replace with Shiel.. Absolute Jet..
Second of all Mumford, Sandi & Stephenson are all having a bye in the same round (12) so you will have 3 doughnuts in ruck division.
Big gamble you are taking with all off Saad, Smedts & Treloar, I dont believe they will be regulars in their respective teams.
Also you can put Bower & Frost in that catergory..
I reckon you have nailed the guns, just sort out your ruck division.

Would be watching Fyfe also due to his interrupted pre season

Zorko a better fit in your forwards then you can put Shiel in your mids

Mids are to weak need 4 prems or 3 prems and a smokie, Docherty also having interrupted pre season and would be better in def anyway as there are much better rookie mids to pick from.

To much money spent in def and fwd which is costing your mids to many valuable points

Colliwobblers

in addition to the comments from FonFatty, which i agree with, I think you are one premium short in your midfield and i would go for a mid priced keeper like barlow and get rid of rioli to pay for him.

Shiel is a definate but you will see which rooks are must haves through nab cup

For the ruck i have sandi and burger but goldy would be ok or even mcevoy.

you have underlined docherty who may or may not be right for early rounds so i dont need to say anything about him and see how lake goes i would keep an eye on conca also incase lake doesnt impress conca might / should !

Good team apart from the little ruck fopar :) don't worry ive rated many teams and said great then had someone come along and say "yeah great if they werent all o nthe same bye :) )

Murph03

I dont think you have to change your rucks just bcoz they share the bye, everyone will get a couple of doughnuts through the bye rounds.

I would wear a doughnut in your rucks that week and have a pretty menacing ruck combo for the other 22 rounds!!

Hey mate,

Likes.

Love the Mummy pick.  He will not let you down.
Martin will only get better so he's a keeper.
Very strong Forward line. (Will Smedts and Walsh get enough game time?)

Dislikes.

Bower and clarke.  Uniquely rubbish sorry mate.
Probably require a more reliable Mid 4 player.

Short and sweet I know but I hope it helps.

Good start Dmac!

PICCOLLO

Few too many question mark players for my liking.  I think as a whole you're taking too many risks if you have more than 2-3 guys like lake and bower in your side.

dmac07

TEAM NAME: Dmac's Destroyers
DEF: B. Goddard, B. Deledio, H. Shaw, R. Conca, B. Ellis, T. Mohr, S. Morris (B. Smedts, B. Wilkes)
MID: G. Ablett jnr, D. Swan, M. Murphy, T. Rockliff, S. Clifton, D. Shiel (D. Zorko, J. McDonald)
RUC: T. Goldstein, S. Mumford (J. Giles, O. Stephenson)
FWD: L. Franklin, N. Fyfe, D. Martin, T. Cloke, A. Tomlinson, A. Saad, J. Cameron (A. Treloar, S. Rowe)
CASH LEFT: $23,700

*Updated again, starting to be pretty happy with it. Changed the rookies around a little, got rid of Rioli and added Rockliff to the mids, was a toss up between Rockliff/Swallow. Got rid of Lake, Clarke and Bower, but all are on the watch lis with Conca for probably one spot. Zorko in the mids for now to allow mpp with treloar, martin, fyfe. Smedts and Tomilson allow mpp between def and fwd. All rookies still on watch list till the nab starts. As is fyfe for his shoulder, but if fit he is a must have.

Any other tweaks you guys think I should make? Im sure I've overlooked something.

PICCOLLO

Looks good but im still worried about your defence.  3 rookies plus Conca on the park? Recipe 4 trouble.
Consider dropping goldstein and using giles initially and use the cash to bolster your backs or fwds.  Another option is to drop swan or muphy and bring in swallow ( north have a great draw) to free up cash.
Less rookies on park means less stress when they are the sub or worse, get dropped/ rested.
