To my two favourite Freo supporters Valk & Cic, can I ask a simple question for which I would like a one word answer (no ranges).

Where do you think Freo will finish on the ladder after the home and away season for 2012?

9th

For all the banter and differences your actual expectations are not that far apart.  Lets see how it goes, personally I reckon it will be somewhere between 6th and 9th.

valkorum

It might be 3 spots on the ladder but I see it as the difference between supporting and giving up.  Predicting 9th at the beginning of the season is giving up before you have even started.

I think a premiership would go long ways towards retaining some support basis :P

no its not.

In the words of Pauline Hanson "Please Explain"?

our best players are the players who were injured for the majority of last season, and it will take at least another season for our best 22 to gel and be able to regain their body strength

to compete for the contested ball against the battle hardened finals contenders.

bunyip

Sorry Cic, I have to disagree with ya. I think Freo CAN make the 8. They would have last season except for injuries. By the last round they were a shell of their team. Keep the faith, you'll win most of your home games. just pick up a few away wins and your there :)

Cicjose

yeah but until we play i cant be convinced either way but had we been fit last year we should have got there

valkorum

we were top 4 for a long portion of the year Cic.  Then when injuries struck we still managed to stay top 8 until a few weeks left in the season.  So you are saying that we can only finish 9th and we will have our best players on the track?

Could they take a season or 2 to adjust to Lyon's new plan?

When Lyon took over the Saints they had just made the finals, his first year they dropped out.... But nobody called it a failure

I genuinely believe that our core of players are better than what the Saints had

That's a fair call Valk. The one exception is that I think St.Kilda's midfield was more established and arguably more talented with the likes of Hayes, Montagna, Dal Santo and Ball. But up forward, down back and of course in the ruck you'd have them covered.

valkorum

Their midfield was more experienced than ours - I dont disagree with that fact but I think we have the potential talent to be a better midfield.

Barlow
Mundy
Fyfe
Hill
Morabito
Suban
DeBoer (I see him in the Clint Jones role but harder)

Ziplock

wouldn't putting fyfey solely in your mids weaken you forwards a touch? Or isn't he spending as much time up there now?
