How did you come to be a supporter of your club?

Not sure if this is the place for this but I have an interesting story (mildly interesting) on how I came to be a born and bred Brisbane Pies supporter, thought others of you might have unusual or interesting stories on how you came to be a supporter of your club.

My story.

I was 6, loved AFL don't know how but remember watching it on TV from a very young age, in Brisbane thier might have been one game a week in those days. Maybe at this stage I didn't follow any code of football just loved football, and later came to settle on AFL. I apparantly had hassled and bugged and asked and asked and asked as kids do for a football guernsey from my Mum, not cheap as we all know, so one day at 6 we were walking down the waterfront at Redcliffe and happened to walk past a lifeline thrift shop and there on a rack at the front of the store wass a collingwood guernsey. I had no idea who the pies were at that stage but it was a football guernsey and i had to have it, and it was cheap, Mum bought it for me it was 4 years too big for me and i wore it anyway every day and i wore it till it was a few years too small for me too.

So since that fateful day I have been a pies supporter through the good times and the bad, and for no other more noble reason than that was the guernsey on that rack on that day.

But a supporter i am a member i am and don't i love my team.

Go Pies !!!

When i was a baby my dad took me to every hawks game at Waverley.Of course i cant remeber but he took me to every game until they stopped playing there in 1999 and i went to the final game and i took a part of an advertsing board ;D (aided of course by others cos i was 4 :P )
and in 2000 and 2001 i was taken to the occasinal MCG game (were my sister lost my hawks flag :( )
But actually my first clear memory was when the hawks held on in the 2001 semi final over Power  ;D
and then i moved states lucky it was tassie lol and went to most games in tassie and now im a die hard fanatic and couldnt think of goin for another team ..thanks dad ;)
and this year will b a a member for the first time since i was small ;D
GO HAWKS!!

Cool story Colliwobblers. (and yes this is definitely the place to gab about this kinda stuff)

I was 4 and my mum took me to my first AFL game. She was born in Carlton but was an avid Pies supporter. The game was at Windy Hill vs Essendon and we lost pitifully but I went for the Pies regardless.

The number one rule as a Pies supporter was you had to hate Carlton.  But over the next ten or so years I realised I actually 'liked' Carlton and came out if the closet at age 15. My mother was ropeable when I announced this. And she said if you don't support Collingwood only you don't eat!

But I stuck to my guns and yes Pies is my upmost team but I do have a soft spot for Carlton and always will.

:)

SACRILEGE !!!  Sacrilege is the violation or injurious treatment of a sacred object (TEAM).  ;)

But seriously I don't hate Carlton either but we are most definately supposed to.

^^^this

my mum would have killed me if I went for a team other than St. Kilda :P

Can't really remember. I think it was because a kid from school went for Richmond. This was in Prep. So I just stuck with them.

But I did change to Port after they won the Flag. But my Grandad went for the Tigers so I swapped back only a few games into the next year.

I`m really not sure
I`m a East Freo supporter from way back and followed wafl for years then it kind of died and me and my friends got right into basketball and were mad Wildcat supporters and we absolutely hated the Eagles because it started to put the Wildcats on the back burner.
Rekindled my love for footy i guess when i met my mother-in-law who was a mad eagles supporter.

Relatively easy for me . Was a North Melbourne supporter early in life but being a parochial Queenslander switched allegiances to Brisbane when they came into the comp in 1987 (Only a few on FF will remember our bad days) and have been a member ever since and Ironically our first home game in 1987 was against North Melbourne who we defeated to win our first game. Was pleased to go to the MCG for our First Final in 2002 (never been before so it was an experience)

When we finish Top 8 this year don't say I did not warn you.

My dad gave me a very simple choice. He said "Son you can come to the footy with me and watch the Mighty Bombers.....or you can stay home and chop wood like your mother"  :P
