Blayne Wilson of WCE if you can CW

   Blayne Wilson

A strong-marking defender, Wilson spent his first season at West Coast being nursed back from groin and ankle problems before playing 17 WAFL games with Peel Thunder. Was a highly rated junior and reads the game well.

Draft history: 2010 NAB AFL Pre-season Draft 1st round selection (West Coast) No. 2 overall.

Rookie Player Rating (DEF) 6.5/10 - one to watch in the future and potentially a downgrade target mid season if injuries/opportunities present themselves. I do not see him getting opportunity from round 1 or in a full strength WCE lineup, he is very talented however, not a new recruit played all 2011 (17 games) in the WAFL. Could feature in 2012 but wsuggest waiting to see him named, then suggest considering him. Low rating due to JS.

Mitchell Golby
#41   Brisbane Lions
Age: 20yr 5mth    Games: 8     Born: October 3, 1991
Height: 183cm     Weight: 82kg     Position: Defender
Last Drafted: Round 4, Pick #69 2011 National Draft
Last Drafted By: Brisbane Lions
Supercoach Price: $278,500
Dreamteam Price: $265,200

Introduction
Mitch Golby is a creative midfielder/defender who was drafted by the Lions at the end of 2009 midway through his rehabilitation from a knee reconstruction. He is a courageous left-footer who has bounced back from injury setbacks to prove a valuable addition to the Lions' squad.

Background
• Golby caught the eye of recruiters with a string of impressive performances with the Gippsland Power TAC U18 side in 2009.

• He averaged 23 disposals, eight marks and a goal in five matches with the Power and was subsequently invited to the Victorian State trials. H

• He looked almost certain to represent Victoria Country in the U18 Championships but tragically injured his Anterior Cruciate Ligament in a trial match at Victoria Park.

• Despite his injury setback, Golby was given a chance at an AFL career when the Lions drafted him with their first selection (Pick No.16 overall) in the 2009 AFL Rookie Draft.

2010
• Golby continued his rehabilitation from knee surgery throughout the start of the 2010 season and eventually found his way back into the Lions Reserves side by May.

• But just two games into his return, he injured the same knee and required an arthroscopic tidy-up which forced him back on the sidelines for the remainder of the season.

2011
• After overcoming an interrupted debut season, Golby enjoy an incident-free pre-season and earned a place in the Lions' NAB Cup round-robin opener against Essendon/St Kilda at Etihad Stadium.

• During a second pre-season run against the Western Bulldogs at Visy Park, Golby limped off the field and headed straight to the rooms. While some feared the worst, the knee injury required on reltaively minor surgery and around four weeks on the sidelines.

• He returned in time for the Reserves' Round 1 loss against Morningside and was widely considered the Lions' best player.

• He continued his good form throughout the first half of the season in the NEAFL - with his run and carry across half-back a feature of his game - and earned selection in Queensland's initial State squad.

• On the eve of the Lions' Round 12 match against Carlton, Golby was elevated to the senior list in place of draftee Ryan Lester who was placed on the long-term injured list.

• He was promptly named in the Lions' Round 12 and proceeded to collect 16 disposals and lay five tackles in his senior debut against the Blues at Etihad Stadium.

• He quickly became a relatively permanent fixture of the Lions backline for the remainder of the season, playing eight of the next 12 matches and averaging 13 disposals per game.

• At the 2011 AFL National Draft, the Lions used their final selection (Pick No.69 overall) to elevate Golby permanently to the Club's senior list for 2012.

Mid Priced Player Rating (DEF/MID) 7/10 - Huge preseason, has bulked up and is fitter and stronger than last season. A lot of stars returning to the Lions backline which will help the likes of Golby and Adock in DT scoring. Golby excelled in teh full nab cup game but keep in mind the absence of Adcock. Still a good pick the club looks to have faith in him, elevating him off the rookie list and he has upheld his end in the preseason and nab cup all he needs now is games (which he had last season also) and he may explode. A lot depends on his role, his JS and how the Lions use the ball out of defence. Watch!

   Colin Garland
#20   Melbourne Demons
Age: 23yr 10mth    Games: 58     Born: April 28, 1988
Height: 191cm     Weight: 90kg     Position: Defender
Last Drafted: Round 3, Pick #46 2006 National Draft
Last Drafted By: Melbourne Demons
Supercoach Price: $394,800
Dreamteam Price: $288,000

Melbourne rates Garland highly, valuing his flexibility in defence as he can nullify opposition forwards, whether they are tall or small. He has developed into a fine defender after two successive seasons relatively injury-free. He still missed four games with an ankle injury, but was good enough to finish sixth in the best and fairest. Garland has height, is a good mark and has poise when he wins the ball. A quiet character, he is developing off the field (he won the club’s ambassador award) while on the ground he has become a co-ordinator down back.

Player honours: NAB AFL Rising Star nominee 2008.

Draft history: 2006 NAB AFL Draft 3rd round selection
(Melbourne) No. 46 overall.

1   Colin Garland   19   1   20   9   0   5   2   0   0   0   0   108

Mid Priced Player Rating (DEF) 7.5/10 - The only reason its not higher is Grimes may come in stay in the team and take a bit of the playmaking out of defence work away from Garland, (be the go to man for switching and working it out of defence). You cannot ignore Garlands form however and potential, already much closer to a premium in SC he may well make you $100K or becoma a keeper in DT this season also. The Dee's have the EASIEST draw but still a midfield which is somewhat a "work in progress" it could be a very good fantasy scoring year for defenders who can move the ball and run through the middLE SUCH AS Garland and Grimes this season. VERY VERY TEMPTING!!!

   Peter Yagmoor
#38   Collingwood Magpies
Age: 18yr 4mth    Games: 0     Born: October 20, 1993
Height: 181cm     Weight: 83kg     Position: Defender
Supercoach Price: $106,600
Dreamteam Price: $98,700

The Player - A silky-smooth left footer who is best suited to the half back flank or centre wing. Is strong in close and has a penchant for breaking the lines with his long kicking. Boasts a unique background, with both Lebanese and Indigenous blood running through his veins. Was born and raised in Cairns, and moved to Brisbane in 2008.

2011
Played at half back for Morningside in the QAFL, having trained with Gold Coast over the pre-season. The Panthers reached the Grand Final but were defeated by the Northern Territory in the Grand Final. Was pre-listed by the Suns during trade week as one of the club’s Queensland zone selections and was trade to Collingwood along with selection No. 50 in exchange for draft selection No. 47. Travelled to Arizona as a part of the club’s training camp and impressed greatly with his work ethic and quick improvement.

2008
Moved to Brisbane from Cairns on a Michael Voss/AFLQ Scholarship to finish his schooling at St Peters College.

2007
Toured South Africa with the Indigenous All-Stars.

Draft History
2011 AFL Draft traded by Gold Coast Suns (pick 50) for pick 47.

Will be developed into a great footy player no doubt but i feel his game time in the firsts will be limited this season however if given games should have a strong output. Not one for me for a season or three yet i think.

The 21-year-old from Hobart, flew up to the Gold Coast to train with the GC SUNS following the 2011 Draft and after impressing recruiters and coaches on the training track, Hall has been rewarded with a place on Gold Coast SUNS senior list.

The versatile Hall played in a number of positions for Hobart in 2011, starting the year as a forward before excelling late acrosshalfback, where he caught the attention of a number of AFL recruiting scouts in the final game of the year against Lauderdale.

Hall is the son of former Hobart premiership player and Sydney Swans draftee Dale.

Lot of talented 2nd year suns in the fwd line so job security is not guaranteed for Hall, but is looking good on form to date. Watch!

From Leeton, Jacob Townsend is a developing utility player and was the sixth player to join GWS under the Club’s zoning concessions.

He represented NSW/ACT at the 2009 NAB AFL Under‐16 Championships and in 2010 played nine matches for GWS in the TAC Cup to average 17 disposals, recording an elite efficiency of 76%. His efforts earned him the runners‐up trophy in the Club’s first ever Best and Fairest award.

At the 2010 NAB AFL Under‐18 Championships he played in all five matches, averaging 16 disposals and three inside 50s. In 2010 he was the only player from NSW to be selected in the AIS AFL Academy squad and also became just the second player to graduate from the GWS TAC Cup side onto the Club’s AFL list.

Rookie Player Rating (DEF) 7.5/10 - Haven't seen a lot from him during NAB CUP, but what we have seen is worth noting, Sheeds seems to be "fast tracking him" not just that he seems to intend to play him on ball. He has been matched up in all games on the oppositions BEST midfielder, worth noting. Has talent was a gun at junior level, or a developing gun more acurately. May get tough run with roles to learn the game but looks likely to get regular games and be a part of Sheeds plans.
