The Player - Gives the impression that he is a 200-gamer instead of the 21-year-old he is, such has been his transition to senior football. Slotted into the Collingwood midfield in 2009 and has barely missed a beat since. Is skillful around the packs where his hardness and no-fuss approach means he can win the contested ball, but he is also effective in attack.

2011
A mixed season. Started well with 26 disposals and three goals against North Melbourne in round two, but was omitted after a quiet Anzac Day. Proved his worth against Geelong in the VFL in round seven, winning 32 disposals and kicking one goal.

Returned in round nine but broke his foot a fortnight later against St Kilda and spent the next seven weeks in the grandstand. Hit form immediately against the Bombers in round 19 and had between 25-31 disposals in the next six matches. Went into the preliminary final against Hawthorn with groin soreness and paid the price, doing further damage and was eventually subbed off at three quarter time with only two handballs to his name.

He stood down from the team ahead of the Grand Final as a result of the injury, upholding the legacy of Simon Prestigiacomo and putting the team ahead of himself.

2010
Named as an emergency for round one but returned in round two and didn’t miss a game from there on. Averaged 20.4 disposals and kicked 26 goals to run sixth in the Copeland Trophy, and walked away with a premiership medallion in only his second season.

Struggled to convert in front of goal, notably late in the game against Hawthorn in round 22 (26.32 for the season). His form tapered in the last six weeks, but it didn’t detract from a brilliant season for such a young player.

Kept the side in the game against Geelong in round nine when he kicked four of the team’s six goals. Received two Brownlow votes against Carlton in round 18.

2009
Showed promise in the NAB Cup but missed selection in round one. Was forced to drive up the highway from a VFL practice match at Kardinia Park to make a rushed debut the following week against Melbourne at the MCG when Dale Thomas was a late withdrawal. Beams looked right at home, winning 18 disposals and goaling for the first time.

Played 18 games in his debut season, earned a Rising Star nomination in round 17 after the win over Carlton, and his performance peaked in round 20 when he had 30 disposals (and two Brownlow votes) against Richmond. He received maximum Brownlow votes the following week in the win over Sydney.

Was sidelined from the Adelaide semi final with a calf strain but returned for the preliminary final. Played three matches in the VFL. Won the Harry Collier Trophy as Best First Year Player.

2008
Played for Southport in the QAFL. Represented Queensland at the U18 National Championships, where he averaged 24 disposals. Played three games for the Queensland Scorpions in the TAC Cup. Opted not to sign with his native Gold Coast ahead of their entry into the AFL in 2011 and instead tried his luck in the National Draft.

His decision was vindicated when Collingwood drafted him with selection 29. Admitted post-draft that he had always wanted to join Collingwood. Was the only Queenslander to attend the AFL Draft Camp.

Debut
Round 2 2009 v Melbourne at the MCG.

Milestones

    50th Game - Round 10 2011 v West Coast at the MCG.

Premium Player Rating (MID/FWD) 8.5/10 - Set for more midfield time in 2012 along with sidebottom Beams will be a top 7 FWD in 2012 but won't cut it for a mid just yet. Very expensive to start with and thats - .5 rating him at 8.5, if he drops in price seriously consider getting on will be elite in time. This year maybe next.

Gday, its scary but I've been seriously considering Nahas... I see real upside - will play every game, maybe Maric will take small forward duties and he can move up the the wing.  What do you think of him?

Premium Player Rating (FWD) 7.5/10 - Harsh rating but bit of an unknown result for 2012, broke out last season, is touted for mid tiem this season but i find it hard to see how with conca and lids going in this season. Still as a half fwd with time through the middle and on the wing if he continues to improve and finds a way to eliminate the shockers he will increase his average again, in an improvin side too which helps. averaged 23 disposals per game between rounds 5 and 18 so knows how to find the pill.

Premium Player Rating (MID) 8.5/10 - Premium midfielder doesnt get the credit he deserves amongst teh star studded blues midfield. Needs to eliminate the lows from his season to ever be elite, this may be impossible given certain "jobs" he gets. Better options exist for the money.

Premium Player Rating (MID) 8.5/10 [ 9/10 SC] - Judd is a SC pick for DT there will always be better choices. Like Simpson he has too many games in the sub 80 category and while an elite user of the ball, this is only rewarded in SC. A champion of the game, a smart pick for SC a unique one for DT and probably not the wisest.

2011 Wrap - A solid seaon and a good increase in average, probably not enough to be considered a breakout season but Gray is past that point in his career in any case, now he just stands to remain solid or continue to improve towards eliteness. Is that a word?

played every game, 6 tons a high of 130. Scores of 28 , 35 , 43 & 55, in an otherwise consistant season indicate a discounted price for his potential.

Premium Player Rating (MID/FWD) 8.5/10 - Should see a modest to significant increase in Grays average this season, would be a really smart pick for a FWD. He will increase his average if he only plays FWD, but word is he will see at least some more MID time. As stated above if not for a few shocking scores he would already have a better average, has had a great pre-season will/has play nab cup and start round 1 in top fitness. Improving side, better midfield this year Brad Ebert will be a good increase in supply to Gray if he is FWD too.

Outlook
The damaging forward/midfielder was at his brilliant best on several occasions in 2011 and finished as an important member of Geelong’s premiership outfit for the third time. Divided his time between attack and rotating through the middle and applied plenty of defensive pressure with a career-high 104 tackles. Enters the 2012 season as a 30-year-old, but is still playing quality football and should have a couple more seasons in him.

The other way to read it MOTIVATED, wanting to make amends and return to his best he will be better for the operations and motivated to return to elite status. I take off - .5 for the risk in any player his age who has suffered recent injury, but pick him with confidence or have him on your upgrade list.

Premium Player Rating (DEF/MID) - 9/10. Lock for 2012, will see more midfield time. Out of contract this season so the club gives him the midfield opportunity he deserves or? ? ?. Even as an attacking half back he is a LOCK.

2011 Wrap: 11 tons high of 152. Shocking start for Goddard last season for his standards. did score 2 90+ and a 113 in his first 7 but also scored his low of 54 and three 70's, put on a nice 120+ then a 41, a couple more tons then a 56. Scored a 69 later in the season but otherwise was at his standard best only scoring under 90 once on top of the 69.

Premium Player Rating (DEF/MID) 9/10 - believe it or not Goddard is underpriced, he won't drop in price this season he will increase in price. (or with the magic number he will make up for the natural value drop). GUN DT Defender, lock him in, you shouldn't even need to read this rating. The 2011 winner of SC might have done so without Goddard but I doubt anyone will win DT or SC without him this season, I don't expect to see the same 7 shockers in 2012 he had in 2011.

Premium Player Rating (FWD/MID) 8.5/10 - 2nd year breakout player, suffered a shoulder injury which interupted his pre-season. - .5 for the interupted pre-season. Minus nothing for the injury he is over it, shone in the intra club hit out and will play nab cup. A Gun and although he may attract some extra attention this season he also may not given the potential for Barlow to be 100% and Mundy being the Gun he is. Either way as a premium FWD pick he is a good one and will not dissapoint in my oppinion.

The Player - Perhaps the prototype of the modern midfielder. Sleek, skillful and slippery, Pendlebury is one of the bona fide stars of the competition. Forms a powerful midfield quartet alongside Dane Swan, Luke Ball and Dale Thomas, and his ability to win the contested ball as well as use his creativity in open space has made him one of the hardest players to tag. His graceful style of play belies his hardness, for he is a fierce tackler and renowned for his abilities at the bottom of the packs. Often appears to be playing at a different tempo to the other players on the field, such is his calmness that stems from playing as a point guard in basketball teams in his youth. Boasts an imposing trophy cabinet, with his crowning glory his 2010 Norm Smith Medal. Has been a vice-captain of the club since 2009. More exciting for his supporters is that may yet have further improvement left.

2011
Most players would be satisfied with a season like Pendlebury had in 2010, but the vice-captain took it to another level in 2011. Averaged 29.7 disposals in all 25 games (never dipping below 20 in a match), kicked 24 goals (including three in both matches against Essendon) and polled 24 Brownlow votes to finish equal third.

Confirmed his reputation as a big game player in averaging 34.3 disposals during the finals series, and was one of Collingwood’s best in the Grand Final loss to Geelong. Named on a wing in the All-Australian side and capped off his year with his first Copeland Trophy.

HANDS OFF PENDLES !

Premium Player Rating (MID) 9/10 - May overtake Swan as the highest DT scoring player in the comp this season, Magnificently consistant as stated above, flawless pre-season, on top of the world being head hunted and set to name his price at the Pies if he stays. May Swans comments about retiring in 3 years have more to do with keeping Pendles than any intent to retire?. Will he stay or Go to GWS, who knows who cares the wuestion is will he be a LOCK for 2012 DT, and the answer is YES. Already is the most consistant ton scorer, just needs to hit the ridiculous captain scores we see from Swanny and Gaj more oftern and he will be the DT man, already is the SC man as we know. In Summary..... LOCK
