some one that i havent really seen anyone mention is jobe watson..... cheap as chips, he had a flyer last year before destroying himself, pretty consistent and he revved up his K:H ratio which everyone was goin boonanas over last year.

Birchall was one of the great improvers in 2011.  From season 2006 through to season 2010 he had been a solid performer whose average was always between 70 and 79.  He has also been a consistent player with his lowest amount of games played coming in his first year where he played 16 games.  He has also been very consistent with his disposals where he has always been between 19 and 22 average across those years.  Then in 2011 he lifted his average up to 89 and his disposals lifted up to 23.76.  The bonus for his scoring was that the increase in disposals came from kicks which improved his K:H ratio which means more points for us!

During 2011 it seemed as though he took on a lot of the role that Hodgey was previously playing in the backlines for the Hawks.  He was the link up man across half back and spent a bit of time across the midfield helping out too.  All of this translated into higher scores for Birchall.  When looking at his scores for the year, his averaged is really affected by 3 poor games of  58, 62 and 63.  If you take those three out then his average bumps to 94.4.  His other poorer scores were all in the 70′s.  However at the upper end he had 6 hundreds and a 124 as his best.  There were another 4 in the 90′s.

2011 DT Wrap, ok he was solid and consistent year after year but last season he decided he would lift, and significantly! 9 scores at 100+ the best a 129. add to that 4 scores 90+, 3 scores 80+ 4 scores in the 70's three shockers sub 70 with the worst 58. Not too bad hey? pretty consistent season, if not for the few dud games he would have been an elite premium defender, this year i am tipping him to be just that.

Premium Player Rating (DEF) 8.5/10 - check his role in nab cup if a link up  and or rebounding role is involved GET ON HIM, hard to pick over delidio(mid time) and goddard, well just cause he is goddard, with the bye he shares with them but definate upgrade target for me and for those who pick him he could be the difference between being equal with the masses and having an advantage over the masses. Will average close to 100 if he has the same role as last season as he is on fire and will improve a little more again this season.

Rookie Player Rating (FWD) - 7/10 a good rating for izzy, due to two reasons, he WILL PLAY, every game he comes up for, is fit for, he is an elite athlete and an elite competitor and he has kicked a bag or tow before. The only question is how long will it take him to develop the footy brain he needs to ever be a good afl player. I expect an average of 45 - 65 which for a guaranteed to play rookie isnt too bad, but better options exist at least at this stage they do.

Rookie Player Rating (MID) 8/10 - Gun midfielder but young and not guaranteed to be ready for afl footy, more worry-some is the way NM plays and doesn't play their rooks. Could be a great unique pick if he plays well (which he does) in nab cup and is listed as as starter round 1. But you would be brave to trust any NM rook to get regular continuous games after last season. Full marks for his skills, loses points for his JS.

A powerful all-round midfielder with an eye for goal, the Victorian has proved himself an ideal partner for Daniel Kerr in the engine room. The only bum note as Shuey set about vindicating the Eagles' patience in 2011 came in the finals, when he was too often caught with the ball. He and Kerr share many traits, but Shuey will need to adopt some of Kerr's poise, both in the September cauldron and other big games. He is, however, too good and too smart not to learn from the experience.

2011 Season DT wrap, only the 4 scores 100+ but with a high of 142 shows us his potential. A low of 45 but every other score 67 at least, so has some consistency in his game but consistently average scoring.

Few could doubt that the 2011 AFL season had a more impressive story than that of Luke Shuey. Dogged by injury and illness early in his career, 2011 provided Shuey with the platform to stake his claim as one of West Coast’s premium midfielders. Shuey is having a great pre-season winning most running drills and set to break out this season, that said it's your midfield and you want 100+ as a minimum.

Mid Priced Player Rating: (MID) 8.5/10 - 8.5 because i think he is in for a break out year if he stays fir continues to develop and has the support around him to get opportunities. I think at his price and the fact he will be doing well to break the 100 average he is not the best pick or even a viable option for the midfield, but he will be a premium midfielder this season or next but not one of the top shelf ones, and a lot needs to be achieved and go right for him to take the next step this season.

2011 season wrap = don't underrate this guy check the stats, 12 games , 7 tons , a 90 , and a couple of 80's , a 75 and an injury effected (2). So take away the (2) you have an average of 104.5.

He is a gun and will average 110+ in a much healthier and therefore better Fremantle side, especially if the many KEY players down last season are back up and running, but running around with Barlow and taking hit outs from the sandi man Mundy is in for anotehr elite year.

Not much to say, may miss a game or two making hiim an upgrade target which for most he would have been in any case given sharing his bye with Barlow, the pies and the cats. Season 2011 Wrap - Started with a bang as well all know and finished with a flop. That said he still managed 3 tons in hte back half of the season to go with his 6 in a row in the front half. Ok it wasn't 6 in a row it was ton-97-5 tons close enough to 7 in a row really. and another 96 to the back half of the season and what really happened was a slump in the middle. Jobe had too much on his plate and not enough help with the workload, as simple as that. Given a healthy team around him he should have a much better 2012.

Ok so another case of no news, could be good news. I can tell you a few things about the bombers and their captain. They are toughening up and bulking up, working on endurance but more so strength in a bid to better run games out. At his ripe old age Watson is not the focus for this kind of work but he is set to be the beneficiary with tougher and fitter players around him he is set to see more ball, easier ball and last out the season better. I expect a better 2012 with the slump eliminated to a great extent leading to an increased average of between 5 and 15 points, tho 15 is a stretch at that already high level.

Premium Player Rating 8.5/10 - only reason not a 9 like the other elite midfielders I have researched is the "fear factor" of last seasons slump. But the lower price just about makes up for that, pick him with confidence.
